Happy Fun Belt and C-USA Season! We’ve got Tuesday and Thursday action in the Sun Belt, Wednesday and Thursday action in Conference USA, and two ranked teams among several games on Friday night. All of that before a massive Saturday that includes Georgia vs. Alabama as the biggest game of the weekend. What a run we’ve got going now with 61 straight days with a NFL/CFB game. Even if they aren’t the greatest, most visually appealing games in the world, it’s still college football.
We are running out of non-conference games, though, as the only ones we have this week are Ball State vs. Northwestern, Stanford vs. Notre Dame, UConn vs. Temple, and Hawaii vs. Arizona State, as ND and UConn obviously play nothing but non-conference games with their Independent status.
Given that Week 14 is reserved for conference championship games, we are just about at the halfway point of the 2026 college football season.
Week 6 College Football Odds Report
Lines as of Sunday, October 4 at 10:30 p.m. ET
Southern Miss vs. Troy (-10.5, 49.5)
Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Normally a game like this wouldn’t get any run in an article like this, but it is our first Tuesday night game and that might as well be celebrated. Initially, money hit the board on Troy, as Circa opened this line 9.5 and we’re sitting 10.5 market-wide. DraftKings also had 9.5 at the outset, so the first move on this game pushed the line into double digits. It should be noted with these random weeknight games that public players are going to bet the game just to have action, while not really knowing much about the teams. Keep that in mind as you analyze the market.
New Mexico State at FIU (-5.5, 46.5)
Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
I couldn’t let Wednesday’s two-pack of Conference USA clashes go unmentioned. It really doesn’t take much to move a college football line around between -4 and -6 because extra points are still like 99% likelihoods, but this line did get pushed north a bit, as the team that calls Pitbull Stadium home has grown a little as a favorite. DraftKings actually had this one down at 3.5 for a time earlier, but Circa opened 4.5 and FIU got bumped to 5.5 pretty much across the board. I think 6 is more likely than the line coming back down.
South Florida at UTSA (-7, 52.5)
Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Similarly, I didn’t want to let Thursday go unmentioned, even though this is the closest thing we have to a big game. The most notable development here is that the total has moved down, hardly a surprise given how USF’s offense has struggled so far this season. First-time head coach Brian Hartline seems to have a strong defense in Tampa, but the offense is still a work in progress. UTSA has played some high-scoring affairs thus far, but this total dropped from 54 at Circa to 52.5 and fell from 55.5 to as low as 51.5 at DraftKings. UTSA also went from -6.5 to -7 at DK in early wagering.
Florida State at Louisville (-4.5, 59)
Friday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Our first game of the week from a power conference is a line that would have looked a lot different just a week or two ago. But, Jeff Brohm Jeff Brohmed, with Louisville losing to Wake Forest at home and then he Jeff Brohmed some more with a loss to NC State. Now we’ve seen Florida State as the preferred side here, with the line coming down from 6 at Circa to 4.5. Most of the market was still 5.5 as of Sunday night, but it would seem that Circa took some respected money on the Seminoles. This total has gone north from 58 to 59 and even 59.5 at some places.
Indiana (-7, 52.5) at Nebraska
Saturday, Noon ET (FOX)
Big Noon Kickoff is a big one in Lincoln. We’re going to find out just how real the Cornhuskers are. Indiana also hasn’t looked as dominant as the last two versions, but Nebraska has throttled a weak schedule and they are stepping way up in weight class here. Jeff Sagarin has Nebraska with the 111th-ranked schedule in the nation. But, it should also be noted that Indiana has played the 103rd-ranked slate of foes per Sagarin. Circa opened 9.5 here and dropped to 7 by Sunday evening. DraftKings also had 7 after opening 8.5 and moving up to 9.5 before dropping to mirror the market.
North Carolina at Pitt (-4, 47)
Saturday, Noon ET (ESPN)
This is a line I will be watching closely. It has been adjusted already with the loss of QB Mason Heintschel to a torn ACL, but I’m not sure that the market fully knows how to rate Pitt’s backup, Holden Geriner. My initial guess here is that the modelers plugging this stuff in will consider him a bigger downgrade than what this line seems to suggest. I think we’re probably looking at -7 or -7.5 with Heintschel. Whether or not this move is enough, especially against a solid Tar Heels defense, remains to be seen.
Wake Forest (-4, 60.5) at NC State
Saturday, Noon ET (ESPN2)
Wake Forest was a road favorite at Stanford last season. That was the first time since 2022 that the Demon Deacons laid a road number in an ACC game. They were actually road favorites in Raleigh against the Wolfpack that season and lost 30-21 as a field goal favorite. So, we’ll see if that can rectify that a few seasons later and hold serve as road chalk against Dave Doeren’s crew. This is a fairly rare type of number for the Demon Deacons and I am curious to see which way the line swings. So far, we’ve seen minimal movement, but somebody will have an opinion that moves the number.
Ball State at Northwestern (-37, 52)
Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET (BTN)
The Chip Kelly Effect is alive and well in Evanston. This is the first time since 2019 that Northwestern is favored by 30+ over a FBS opponent and the last time before that was 2013. Ball State is objectively terrible, so this line is hardly a surprise, but the Purple Cats have been really, really impressive here of late and the market has taken notice. Not only is Northwestern reaching some usually unreachable heights, but this line actually grew from 35 to 37 at Circa. It also grew two points at DraftKings after opening 34.5.
UCLA at Oregon (-11.5, 59)
Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
I have a hard time reading into what we’re seeing here. The severity of Dante Moore’s concussion hasn’t really been revealed yet, but we have to assume he’s unavailable. It’s probably an even safer assumption because Dylan Raiola looked really strong in relief last week. Is this a line move based on the gap between Moore and Raiola? Is this a move because UCLA has been quite good this season under first-year head coach Bob Chesney? Circa opened Oregon -13 and got dropped to -11.5, similar to what happened at DraftKings with a move down from 12.5 to 11.5. Let’s see if this one keeps dropping.
Texas (-7.5, 39.5) vs. Oklahoma
Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
This line mostly opened 7.5 or 8, but it’s the total that I want to discuss here. Circa opened it 40 and dropped to 39.5. It is hard to believe that back in 2018, this total was 77.5 and that it was 78 in 2019 (both games went Under, by the way). Last year’s total of 43.5, which also stayed Under, was the lowest total in this game in quite some time and this year’s total is significantly smaller.
North Dakota State (-3, 50) at UNLV
Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (CW)
Sure to be overshadowed by the bigger games and bigger brands in primetime, this is one hell of a game at Allegiant Stadium. North Dakota State has mostly bulldozed FBS competition in their first season at the Division I-A level. UNLV has been extremely inconsistent thus far. But, this looks to be, in some ways, a preview of how things might be shaking out in the Mountain West Conference with most of the league’s better teams now residing in the Pac-12. UNLV was +4 at Circa’s opener and the same at DraftKings.
Georgia at Alabama (-2, 55)
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
This is undoubtedly the game of the week in Week 6. Unlike the pick ‘em slapped on USC and Penn State, I think Circa was legitimately curious to see which side would be the preferred one. I think they expected it to be Alabama and I wonder how they feel about taking a position where they’re likely to need Georgia. Sagarin has Alabama as his No. 1 team in the country with the ninth-ranked strength of schedule. Georgia is his No. 5 team with the 86th-ranked schedule. Will we see this line go to -3? Initially, DraftKings opened Georgia -2.5 and got punished for what some thought was a bad number.
USC at Penn State (-1.5, 55)
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET (NBC)
I love what Circa did with this line. They posted it as a pick ‘em and told the clientele to sort out which team should be favored. Obviously there’s a little SoCal bias in Las Vegas that they do need to account for at times, but neither one of these teams looks trustworthy at this point. Penn State is probably a lot less trustworthy, but Lincoln Riley has been terrible when traveling east with the Trojans and it’s a long trek to Happy Valley here. Let’s see if the initial move is the right move and if the line continues to move that way, as the unranked team is favored against the ranked team. Interestingly, DraftKings had USC -2.5 at the outset, but had Penn State favored by Sunday afternoon.
