Jaiper Invitational Stakes, Saratoga, Race #9

You know I love a good turf sprint so that is where we will begin. #10 My Boy Prince has run lights out since cutting back to turf sprinting. He has been better at today’s five and a half furlong distance and should get the setup today.

#8 John the Beer Man is an interesting price that should be pedal to the metal right from the jump. If he is quick enough to get the lead, the course should help hold the speed based on the way it has played the last two days.

#1 Governor Sam is simply too big of a price to pass up. He has run well here at Saratoga before, and you can toss the last; that was simply a prep to get ready for this meet. If he can improve off his three-year-old numbers, then he will be in the mix at 15-1.

#6 Ag Bullet won this race last year when taking on the boys, but she had a prep race under her belt. This time, she jumps right into the deep end and faces a tough field. She always runs well, but I would be more interested if we had a race in this cycle.

Top 4: 10-8-1-6
The Bets: $50 Win #10

Belmont Stakes, Saratoga, Race #13

I’m going to stick to my guns and put #3 Chief Wallabee on top. He had trouble from the half-mile pole on in the Derby. I will give him one more chance to break my heart here in a triple crown race.

#4 Renegade is the logical favorite. You have to worry his run in the Derby was pace dependent, but his track record prior to the race tells a much better story than that of Ocelli (3rd in the Derby) or #9 Golden Tempo, winner of the Derby. He can sit closer to what should be a tepid pace and make one big run.

#2 Powershift is likely to be that pace setter while stretching out to the longest distance of his career. He is going to have to improve and get brave to win, but the lead is his for the taking, and this class just may not be that good.

#7 Commandment is a very interesting one as well. He got the worst ride of the Derby with Saez sending him early after a stumble at the break. He lost all hope when he got crunched in the stretch. Feels like we never really found out how good he was in that spot.

Top 4: 3-2-4-7
The Bets: $50 Win #3
