Mr. Ed’s Gulfstream Picks for Saturday, January 25:

MR. ED’S PEGASUS DAY PICKS: I believe the following eight races hold the keys to winning the 1/ST BET-VSiN sponsored PEGASUS PLAYOFF PICK’EM CHALLENGE, which combines a player’s handicapping skills at Gulfstream Park and in the NFL championships. While contest rules prohibit Mr. Ed from officially entering the fray, he couldn’t resist posting his unofficial selections for the eight designated races today and the two NFL games on Sunday. Interested in playing? You can enter the contest here. Check out Mr. Ed’s Gulfstream selections and NFL picks.

Mr. Ed’s Pegasus Playoff Pick’Em Challenge Picks at Gulfstream

Race 8 (2:41 p.m. ET/11:41 a.m. PT) — G2 $265K FRED W. HOOPER STAKES for 4YOs & up going 1 mile
Mr. Ed likes #5 TUMBARUMBA (2-1 morning line). Welcome to Mr. Ed’s Chalk City! My choice is the deserving favorite, based on consistent finishes vs. in-the-money, graded-stakes fields. The gelding is out to avenge the loss to Rocket Cam in the last race. Recent bullet works point to preparedness. Trainer Brian Lynch spots his runners well. Tyler Gaffalione returns for the turnback to a one-turn mile. He’s ready to rumbarumba.

Race 9 (3:13 p.m. ET/12:13 p.m. PT) — G3 $215K WILLIAM S. MCKNIGHT STAKES for 4YOs & up going 1 ½ mile on turf
My pick is #1 LIMITED LIABILITY (3-1 morning line) for Shug McGaughy, who brings the gelding back after a brief break. Son of super sire Kitten’s Joy adds a little distance and gets class relief and a favorable inside post. Legendary jockey Frankie Dettori rides for the third consecutive time. He’s just liable to Win.

Race 10 (3:45 p.m. ET/12:35 p.m. PT) — G2 $500K WORLD CUP for fillies and mares, 4YOs & up going 1 1/16 mile on turf
I like #10 SACRED WISH (5-2 morning line) for sharp trainer George Weaver. She’s fresh off upgrade G1 Win at Del Mar. HOF rider Johnny Velazquez, who fits the mare well, returns to the saddle. Win today pushes her above $1 million in earnings. She sports an impressive 13 of 17 in-the-money record. Gal can flat-out run.

Race 11 (4:20 p.m. ET/1:20 p.m. PT) — G2 $215K INSIDE INFORMATION for fillies and mares 4YOs & up going 7 furlongs
Mr. Ed likes #9 EMERY (3-1 morning line). Excellent trainer Brian Cox has the sprinter poised to win sixth of eight starts. Regular rider Tyler Gaffalione is enjoying excellent meet. The expensive son of More Than Ready is certainly ready to win again.

Race 12 (4:55 p.m. ET/1:55 p.m. PT) — G1 $1 MILLION WORLD CUP TURF  for 4 YOs going 1 ½ mile
I like #7 NATION’S PRIDE (2-1 morning line). Winner of more than $3.4 million shortens up for top British trainer Charlie Appleby, who brings William Buick along to ride. Mr. Ed is proud to label the horse his BEST BET of the Pegasus Day celebration.

Race 13 (5:40 p.m. ET/2:40 p.m. PT) — G1 $3 MILLION PEGASUS WORLD CUP for 4 YOs going 1 ⅛ mile
Mr. Ed likes #6 STRONGHOLD (10-1 morning line) for trainer Phil D’Amato and rider Antonio Fresu. Son of Ghostzapper stretches back out to 1 1/8th mile following Place finish in California sprint. He’s Mr. Ed’s LONGSHOT OF THE DAY.

MR. ED’s UNOFFICIAL NFL SELECTIONS: Welcome to Dogtown! Those who follow Mr. Ed’s racing selections know he has a propensity to side with lower morning line picks. When it comes to the PEGASUS PLAYOFF PICK’EM CHALLENGE football picks, he’s jumping into the deep end of the pool with:
WAS +6 vs. PHA & Over 47.5 … I’ll take the points, but I may not need them. It might be a score fest, so I’ll take the Over, too.
BUF +1.5 vs. KC & Over 47.5 … I’ll go with the short dog. Buffalo is ready to win. Mr. Ed likes his eggs Over Easy.
