Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Monday, July 24th:

San Francisco Giants at Detroit Tigers (-120, 8.5)

The Giants have to get up and play an early game against the Tigers on Monday, and I’m expecting them to struggle a bit with Tarik Skubal. This has been a trying season for the lefty, who has missed a lot of time with injuries thus far. But Skubal should be pretty excited about getting a crack at San Francisco. This season, the Giants have the fifth-highest strikeout rate in baseball, and this is a team that really struggles against left-handed pitching. With that said, Skubal should be able to rack up some strikeouts, even if he doesn’t work deep into this game.

It can be pretty easy to forget, but Skubal was electric for Detroit last season. And that shouldn’t be all that surprising considering he was a top-five prospect in the team’s system at one point. The only thing holding Skubal back now is his recovery. The lefty hasn’t yet thrown more than 64 pitches in a start this season, but it’s hard to tell if that’s by design. He gave up seven earned runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings against the Kansas City Royals on July 18th, and it’s entirely possible he would have worked deeper in that one if he had been pitching better.

As far as stuff goes, Skubal’s velocity and spin rates look just fine. That’s why I believe in him righting the ship and giving the Giants fits today.

Bet: Skubal Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-150)

Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins (-115, 8)

Kenta Maeda just faced this Mariners team on Wednesday, July 19th, when he pitched 6.1 innings of two-run ball and had nine strikeouts in a 6-3 road victory. Now, the oddsmakers have set his outs recorded total at 15.5, and I’m having a lot of trouble figuring out why. Sure, Maeda hasn’t’ consistently worked deep in games this season, but he has pitched at least 6.1 innings in two of his last three starts. And I’m just not sure what’s preventing him from giving this Seattle squad trouble for the second time in a row.

I understand it might be easier for the Mariners to find a way to approach Maeda after having faced him just a week ago, but the reality is that this isn’t a very good lineup. The Mariners do hit righties harder than they do lefties, but they’re a middle-of-the-pack offense and I think Maeda will find a way to pitch around six innings here.

Bet: Maeda Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (-115)

Toronto Blue Jays at Los Angeles Dodgers (-120, 9.5)

Jose Berrios has been cruising for the Blue Jays recently, as he has given up two or fewer earned runs in three consecutive starts. Berrios has also racked up at least eight strikeouts in three of his last five outings. With that said, the Dodgers don’t have the greatest of matchups in tonight’s game. However, I still find it hard to lay off Mookie Betts to go Over 1.5 total bases at even-money odds.

Betts has had a good amount of success in his brief head-to-head history with Berrios, as he’s 6 for 17 with two homers and four RBIs against the righty. Betts also comes into this game after having doubled in two of his last three games, and that’s all we’d need from him to cash this bet. I think we’ll get multiple hits from the superstar tonight, or an extra base hit. I also think there’s a decent shot he takes Berrios yard, making the righty pay for a mistake.

It doesn’t hurt that Betts has been tremendous when playing at home this season, which is one of the reasons I targeted him in this game — along with this matchup having the highest total on the board.

Bet: Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100)
