Tennis best bets for ATP Shanghai – Sunday, October 15

There isn’t much time left in the 2023 tennis season, but the Asian swing brings us some really big tournaments. On Sunday, October 15, we’ll see Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev battle it out in the finals of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. As a 1000-level event, this is one of the biggest non-majors of the entire season. So, there’s a lot at stake between these two, and I’m here to give you a best bet for it. I went 2-0 with my picks for the semifinals, so make sure you keep reading to see how I’m playing the final.

Hubert Hurkacz vs. Andrey Rublev

I won a lot of bets backing both of these players in Shanghai, but now I have to pick just one. And considering the server-friendly conditions at this tournament, I’m just having a hard time coming to grips with Hurkacz being such a heavy underdog. There’s no denying that Rublev has the ability to win this match — especially with the way the Russian is playing right now — but Hurkacz shouldn’t be this big of a ‘dog against anyone outside of Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev on a quicker court. It’s just so hard to get his serve back in play on a surface like this, which we saw when he wasn’t broken once in his semi-final win over Sebastian Korda. And Rublev isn’t exactly an elite server himself, so I do see Hurkacz giving the Russian some trouble when it’s his turn to dig in and return. With that in mind, I love playing the Pole at this number and I’m going somewhat big on it because of the success that this tournament has brought me — and Hurkacz has been a big part of that, as I had him as a +600 play to win his quarter. Rublev has won two in a row against Hurkacz, but I’m expecting the Pole to get back in the win column in this head-to-head series.

Bet: Hurkacz ML (+150 – 2 units)

2023 Overall Record: 298-272 (+53.51 units)
