🏀 NBA Playoffs: Thunder through, Wolves-Spurs next
We now have two of the four teams in the conference finals after the Thunder swept away the Lakers with a 115-110 clincher (but no cover) in Los Angeles.
Both OKC and the Knicks now get some unexpected rest.
The Cavs-Pistons series is tied at 2 after Cleveland’s 112-103 victory Monday. The host Cavaliers covered the closing -3.5. Game 5 is Wednesday in Detroit.
Now it’s Wolves-Spurs’ turn to break the tie. Victor Wembanyama avoided a suspension after his flagrant elbow in Game 4.
Tuesday’s NBA menu
Timberwolves (+10.5) at Spurs, 8 ET (NBC). Total: 218.5. Series tied 2-2.

🧠 Zach Cohen’s NBA Report
Cavaliers, Pistons Tied
Detroit had a chance to hit Cleveland with a kill-shot in Game 3, which was a back-and-forth affair in which the Pistons had opportunities to win. Well, James Harden came up with some big buckets late in a win for the Cavaliers, giving Cleveland some confidence heading into Game 4. Then, with an opportunity to even up the series, the Cavaliers pounced with a 112-103 victory that was a little more lopsided than the final score suggests.
Cleveland now has Harden and Donovan Mitchell rolling. After being the hero late in Game 3, Harden had 24 points and 11 assists in Game 4. Meanwhile, Mitchell was an absolute flamethrower, pouring in 43 points and finishing as a +28 in 37 minutes of action.
The Cavaliers now have all the momentum in the world heading into Game 5, and this team is finally humming offensively. However, Cleveland hasn’t yet won a road game in these playoffs.
The Pistons’ home-court advantage is part of the reason they’re still -150 to win this series at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Thunder Heading Back To Western Conference Finals
Los Angeles made Oklahoma City work for a sweep, but the Thunder were able to come away with a 115-110 victory in Game 4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co. are now through to the WCF, and they’re there without having dropped a game thus far.
Oklahoma City winning in the type of dominant fashion it did was big, as Jalen Williams now has some time to heal up without having to worry about missing games. The Thunder are looking to return to the NBA Finals, so they’ll need the two-way superstar healthy soon.
As far as the Lakers go, we’re entering a big summer for LeBron James. It doesn’t seem like The King is set to retire, but will he spend the final years of his career in Los Angeles? We’ll see. It might be time for Rob Pelinka to move forward and try to build this thing out around Luka Doncic.
Tuesday Night: Wolves-Spurs Game 5
In Tuesday’s standalone postseason game, the Spurs will look to regain their series lead when they host the Timberwolves in Game 5. San Antonio will do so with the full services of Victor Wembanyama, who wasn’t suspended or fined for the elbow he threw on Naz Reid.
But just having Wembanyama out there doesn’t guarantee a victory. We have seen that there’s no quit in this Minnesota squad, and Anthony Edwards is getting better and better with each game he plays. In Game 4, he looked like he was nearing the 100% mark in his return from a knee hyperextension. That’s bad news for San Antonio.

🏇 Preakness Draws Field Of 14
Kentucky Derby entrants Ocelli, Robusta and Incredibolt are all part of the 14-horse Preakness field at Laurel Park.
Great White, who was scratched just before the Derby, also is entered.
Iron Honor opened as the 6-2 morning-line favorite.
Adam Burke noted two interesting nuggets in his early preview:
• This is the biggest Preakness field since 2011
• Attendance at Laurel will be capped at 5,000 instead of the usual 100,000-plus at Pimlico
