Coca-Cola 600:

After celebrating the All-Stars of the NASCAR Cup Series, we get back to business as usual on the Memorial Day Weekend with the Coca-Cola 600. The annual race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is one of the sport’s signature events. The 600 stands for miles here, as the drivers take 450 laps around the 1.5-mile asphalt track with a race that starts around dusk and finishes under the lights.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series Standings

The race at Kansas led to a change at the top, as a clean sweep from Kyle Larson propelled him into first place with 469 points. Larson won the race, won both stages, led the most laps, and had the fastest lap, as he continued a real heater with four straight top-four finishes, two race wins, and four combined stage wins.

William Byron ran 24th for his second-lowest finish of the season, which resulted in dropping to second place with 434 points. He’s still 50 points clear of Christopher Bell, who sits in third and finished second at Kansas. Chase Elliott (378) and Ryan Blaney (362) round out the top five.

Tyler Reddick (357), Denny Hamlin (346), Alex Bowman (325), Joey Logano (318), and Bubba Wallace (310) round out the top 10. Logano would be higher, but he was disqualified from the Talladega race after failing an inspection.

Your race winners through 12 points races are Larson (3), Byron, Bell (3), Hamlin (2), Logano, Austin Cindric, and Josh Berry.

Coca-Cola 600 Winners

Charlotte is a stop for the drivers twice a year, but the playoff race is run on the Roval, which is a hybrid of a road course and the oval.  Bell is the reigning winner in this race, which was shortened by rain last year to just 249 laps. Blaney won back in 2023, with Hamlin the year prior and Larson in 2021. As with most 1.5-mile tracks that don’t offer any sort of high-variance characteristics, like a plate race or a short track with a lot of accidents, you’ll want to look at the usual suspects this week.
