Coke Zero Sugar 400:
With 24 of the 26 regular-season races in the books, Tyler Reddick leads all drivers in points. That’s just what we all expected at this stage of the game, right?
Reddick picked up his second win of the season last week at Michigan and leads Chase Elliott by 10 points. Now, though, we’re looking almost exclusively at playoff points with this week’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 and next week’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington left before the Cup Championship Playoffs begin.
This is a Saturday night race, so plan your weekend accordingly.

Reddick already had a win, so nothing really changed in terms of the playoff picture, except Martin Truex Jr. locked up a postseason berth. He doesn’t have any wins, but he has the most points of any driver without a win. Ty Gibbs is next on the list and he’ll be very interested in this week’s race, along with Chris Buescher, Ross Chastain, and Bubba Wallace, who are the next in line without a victory.
Kyle Larson remains the only driver with four wins. Christopher Bell, Hamlin, and William Byron all have three wins each. Ryan Blaney and Reddick are the only drivers with two wins. Alex Bowman, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, Brad Keselowski, Daniel Suarez, Austin Cindric, and Austin Dillon all have one win each. Dillon kept his win, but lost his playoff berth based on how he won at Richmond, so he is not assured a spot in the playoffs.
Larson now has the most Bonus Playoff Points with 28. Bell’s 25 points rank second. Hamlin is next with 21 points. There are 19 full-time drivers with playoff points and six – Bell, Larson, Hamlin, Byron, Blaney, and Reddick – are in double digits.
The first playoff race is the Quaker State 400 on September 8 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Winners
Daytona is a twice-a-year track, with this race in the late summer and the Daytona 500 to kick off the season. Hamlin leads the way among active drivers with three wins, but he’s done that in 37 starts. Dillon, Byron, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have two each. David Ragan, Michael McDowell, Cindric, Logano, Justin Haley, Kyle Busch, Buescher, Blaney, Erik Jones, and Keselowski all have one win.
Buescher is the reigning champ in this race and Dillon won two years ago. On these restrictor plate tracks, anything can happen, as Jones and Haley also have wins in this race recently. Byron won the Daytona 500. This is a wide-open race in a lot of respects.
