Go Bowling at The Glen

Only three races remain in the NASCAR regular season and we’ve reached the final true road course race of the season with the Go Bowling at The Glen. The Glen is, of course, Watkins Glen in central New York and this is one of two remaining road course races. The Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway will host the final race in the Round of 12.

There are 36 total races on the books, including the Cup Championship Playoffs, with the championship race at Phoenix Raceway on November 2.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series Standings

William Byron made his way back to the winner’s circle for the first time in quite a while as he took down the checkered flag at the Iowa Corn 350. Byron won the Daytona 500 to open the season and had fallen on some hard times lately, as the win at Iowa was his first top-five finish since the race in Nashville on June 1. He started so fast that he was mostly able to maintain his points lead.

Byron leads with 770 points, followed by Chase Elliott with 725 and Kyle Larson with 719. Christopher Bell is in fifth with 684 points. Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe, Alex Bowman, and Bubba Wallace round out the top 10.

The race winners so far are Byron (2), Larson (3), Bell (3), Hamlin (4), van Gisbergen (3), Blaney, Chastain, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Briscoe, Elliott, and Wallace through 23 points races with 16 playoff spots in total up for grabs and 13 taken by race winners as of now. There are only three races left until the Cup Series Playoffs begin, so all of the race winners are safe for playoff berths.

Go Bowling at The Glen Winners

The Cup Series made its debut at Watkins Glen in 1957, but didn’t come back for good until 1964. The only other year without a race was 2020 due to COVID restrictions in the Empire State. This is one of the rarer tracks on the circuit these days because a lot of active drivers have won here.

The oldest win belongs to Kyle Busch back in 2008. He also won in 2013. Logano won a decade ago and Hamlin won the next year in 2016. Elliott won this race in both 2018 and 2019, while Larson was a back-to-back winner in 2021 and 2022. Byron and Chris Buescher are the last two victors on the 2.454-mile course.
