Toyota Save Mart 350
A street course last week and now a road course this week, as the haulers had a long trip from Chicago to Sonoma for the Toyota Save Mart 350. The Sonoma Raceway has been a NASCAR Cup Series stop every year except for 2020 when COVID cancelled the race. This is a 1.99-mile asphalt course with 12 turns and the third race of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge.
This is the 20th race of 26 scheduled for the regular season and there are 36 total races on the books, including the Cup Championship Playoffs.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series Standings
As many people expected, Shane van Gisbergen won the Grant Park 165 last week on the Chicago Street Course. That was actually his second win of the season and he only has one other top-10 finish to his name. His other win came at Mexico City.
Back-to-back bad finishes for William Byron have closed his points lead to 13, as Chase Elliott is now on his heels. Kyle Larson is only six points behind Elliott in third. Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick are a distant fourth and fifth with a couple of top-five finishes last week. Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Ross Chastain, Chase Briscoe and Alex Bowman are in the top 10.
The race winners so far are Byron, Larson (3), Bell (3), Hamlin (3), van Gisbergen (2), Blaney, Chastain, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Briscoe, and Elliott through 18 points races with 16 playoff spots in total up for grabs and 12 taken by race winners as of now. That means some winners may not make it, if they don’t have enough points relative to other race winners. The most at risk would be van Gisbergen, who goes into this week 27th in points, even with his two wins.
Toyota Save Mart 350 Winners
Among active drivers, Larson has the most wins with two. Daniel Suarez and Kyle Busch have one each. Busch actually has seven top-10 finishes in this race and six of them have been in the top five. He picked up just his second top-five finish of the season last week in Chicago.
Logano has four top-five finishes in his last 10 races. Elliott has four top-five finishes in just eight starts, so he’s been a force to be reckoned with in this race.
