Xfinity 500:

Two races remain for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. One will determine who qualifies for the championship and one to crown a champion. The Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway in the final race of the Round of 8. 

Tyler Reddick’s win last week at Homestead-Miami punched his ticket to the championship race along with Joey Logano, who won at Las Vegas in the first race of this round. That means two spots are up for grabs this weekend between the six remaining challengers.

 

How to Watch The Xfinity 500

When: Sunday, November 2, 2024

Where: Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, VA

Time: 2:00 p.m. ET

Channel: NBC

2024 NASCAR Cup Series Standings

In this round, the top eight had their point totals reset to 4,000 and then the proper bonus points were applied.

Here are the drivers by standings order (bonus points in parentheses):

  • Christopher Bell (132)
  • William Byron (110)
  • Kyle Larson (103)
  • Tyler Reddick (98)
  • Denny Hamlin (92)
  • Ryan Blaney (72)
  • Joey Logano (70)
  • Chase Elliott (67)

If none of these drivers win this week, it will come down to points for a spot in the championship race at Phoenix. If Logano or Reddick win, it will also come down to points. If any of these drivers without a win in the Round of 8 secures the victory, he will move on and so will the highest in points without a win.

2024 NASCAR Cup Championship Playoffs Format

There are 10 races in the playoffs, with the first nine grouped into sets of three. A win in one of those races automatically clinches a berth in the next set of races.

The bottom four drivers after each set of three will be eliminated from contention for the championship. Bonus points continue to matter and will be accumulated through the postseason.

Straight Talk Wireless 400 (Homestead-Miami) – Sunday, October 27

Championship

Xfinity 500 Winners

Martinsville is a twice-a-year stop for the Cup Series. Byron won the race here back in April and also the 2022 spring version. Other active drivers with a spring win are Martin Truex Jr. (2), Brad Keselowski (2), Kyle Busch (1), Larson (1), and Hamlin (1).

Blaney is the reigning champ of this fall race. Bell (1), Elliott (1), Logano (1), Busch (1), Truex (1), and Alex Bowman (1) also have wins in the autumn.
