Paul vs. Joshua

Those who have been waiting for Jake Paul to face real stiff competition in the ring are going to get their wish. Paul vs. Joshua Prediction for Judgment Day

Paul beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision back in June, a step up from his previous fight against Mike Tyson. This is the first time that Paul has really fought a boxer of note. He lost to Tommy Fury back in 2023 and Tommy is a fraction of the fighter that his half-brother Tyson is. But, at least Tommy had something of a professional career.

Joshua hasn’t stepped into the ring since losing to Daniel Dubois back in September 2024 when he was knocked out for just the second time in his career and lost the IBF heavyweight title. His four career losses are to Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk twice, and Andy Ruiz Jr., a fighter he got revenge against six months later to win back his WBA, IBP, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

The 38-year-old Usyk was the Olympic gold medalist at heavyweight in the 2012 Olympics. Dubois has also lost to Usyk twice, including his most recent fight in July. Oh, and the 36-year-old Joshua was the super-heavyweight gold medalist in the 2012 London Games.

In other words, unless there’s some sort of backroom deal or agreement, Paul is facing a boxer whose only career losses have been against titleholders in the heavyweight division. Paul is deservedly a huge underdog in this fight and if everything is on the up-and-up. Previous fights have been against the occasional journeyman boxer, MMA guys transitioning to boxing, and whatever we want to call Tyson at this stage.

Again, assuming everything is above board with this fight, Joshua at -1200 isn’t even high enough. He’s -400 to win by KO/TKO/DQ and +120 to Win in Rounds 1-2. Certainly there’s some equity for these two guys in making sure that the fight has a little bit of length to it. Joshua to Win in Rounds 3-4 at +260 makes some sense, as it gives Paul’s ability to hang in the fight some measure of legitimacy and also has the fight going long enough to get some run and some more sponsorship dollars.

Pick: Joshua to Win in Rounds 3-4 (+260)
