2026 CAA Conference Basketball Tournament Odds & Predictions
The CAA Conference Tournament returns to Washington D.C. for the fifth straight year and one NCAA Tournament bid for the conference will be available. This is annually a solid conference as one of the lower-ranked mid-majors, but the brand of basketball isn’t always exciting, so the conference doesn’t get a ton of love. Collectively, the conference ranks 21st in adjusted tempo 21st in 3P%, so you don’t get a lot of high-scoring affairs, but there are some strong, reliable programs to pick from in the conference tourney.
All 13 teams qualified for the conference tournament, but the conference really beat up on the bottom-feeders. Six teams won at least 10 games. Northeastern and NC A&T were collectively 6-30. The contrasting styles and shot selections do create a fair amount of parity among the top 10 conference members.

Favorite To Win CAA Conference Tournament
The odds board is pretty fascinating for this one. No. 3 Hofstra is favored, followed by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, but then the No. 6 seed has better odds then the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds and the No. 7 seed even has lower odds than the No. 5 seed. Like I said, there’s a lot of parity among the top teams and it seems like some of the regular season results may be fugazi.
From a metrics standpoint, Hofstra is the best team in the conference. The Pride finished conference play first in adjusted offensive efficiency, second in adjusted defensive efficiency, and rank the highest at Torvik and KenPom’s websites. UNC Wilmington does crack the top 100 for KenPom, but not Torvik. The Seahawks, Pride, and Drexel Dragons all rank in the top 25 nationally in eFG% defense. But, it’s Hofstra’s offense that sets them apart from the others.
The Pride’s conference losses were grouped together, as they started 4-0 in CAA play and then lost five in a row, including a loss to Charleston. They lost the only head-to-head meeting with UNC Wilmington, but got road revenge on Charleston. Big man and 37% 3-pointer shooter German Plotnikov missed two of the games during that five-game losing streak. Biggie Patterson also missed a couple of those losses.
UNC Wilmington lost twice to William & Mary and once to Charleston. Fortunately for the Seahawks, both, and Hofstra, are on the other side of the bracket.
CAA Conference Tournament Darkhorse
The bottom half of the bracket is so loaded here with Charleston, Hofstra, and William & Mary. Those teams could wipe each other out or at least make it difficult to win three games in three days. W&M can shoot the hell out of the basketball, but presumably having to beat those two teams plus UNC Wilmington is a tall order and a moneyline rollover is absolutely going to yield a better price than this futures number. Hell, even Towson is on that side and they’re always a tough out and the best rebounding team in the conference.
With that in mind, the move would be to try and find somebody who could upset UNCW in the other half of the bracket for a darkhorse. That gauntlet on the other side is a lot. In that respect, Campbell (+2500) would be the one of interest to me. Despite their high tempo, they play a lot of close games. They lost all four games to UNC Wilmington and Charleston, but the losses were by 3, 4, 5, and 5 points. They did get trounced by Hofstra, but this is the best 3P% defense in the conference and a team that usually wins the turnover battle.
Betting Pick to Win The CAA Conference Tournament
With a variety of different outcomes possible in the half of the bracket opposite UNC Wilmington, they’re the pick for me at +260. Their path is substantially easier than any of the teams on the other side and you can decide what you want to do with a +260 depending on who they play in the title game, assuming they get there. Monmouth isn’t a bad team and neither is Drexel, but three of the four best teams in the conference are on the other side. The Seahawks should get to the finals and then we’ll see what they can do there.
Pick: UNC Wilmington (+260)
