2026 College Basketball Rematch Betting Systems:
With just a little over three weeks left in the college basketball regular season, many of the games we see from here on out will be rematches, or otherwise known as second-time-around games. As we head into another major weekend of college basketball games, this is a great time to look more closely at the rematch/revenge stats, systems, and trends that have emerged in recent years to take immediate advantage. Read on as I show you some of the best and worst teams in rematches, unveil some interesting systems, and identify actionable spots that might help you in games that are rematches on Saturday and Sunday. As I did last week with my piece on conference play systems, I will again focus on the Power 5 leagues. There are 11 rematch games on tap for Saturday & Sunday.
While the massive expansion of conference sizes in recent years has significantly reduced the number of these rematch games each year, they still carry significant weight in determining league titles and eventual conference and/or NCAA tourney seeding.
Some of you may recognize that I use rematch/revenge statistics extensively in the latter part of each NFL season, as I believe they are a strong handicapping factor. Well, the same can be said in college basketball, where most conference schedules pit league opponents against one another two times each season. It can increase to three times when you add conference tournament action. Naturally, some teams fare better than others when facing teams they’ve already played, albeit due to coaching adjustments made or a variety of other reasons.
As always, there is still much to sort out regarding the conference races and the forthcoming bids for the annual postseason tournaments. What will sort this picture out most of the rest of the way? For the most part, it will be the rematches between conference rivals. In most cases, teams have already faced a large share of their league opponents. There is plenty of game film to be digested as well. How will teams adjust the second time around? Does it matter if they won or lost the opening game? Are there certain teams that are better in late season rematches when favored or when playing at home, etc? Are there any specific scenarios when it’s better to back teams in revenge mode? This article will answer all of those questions and much more. Using this rematch info should help give readers a leg up in the handicapping process, as it is an important part of what happens the rest of the way.
Note: Data includes only regular season rematch games since the beginning of the 2021-22 season through Sunday, 2/8. No conference tournament action was considered.

All of the trends above have been team-specific betting angles; the remaining five are Power Conference-wide systems that you’ll need to fit teams into.
1) CBB Power Conference teams that lost at home in the opening game between teams and are now on the road and maintain a winning record are on a 127-91 ATS (58.3%) run.
This is an ideal spot for backing a team in revenge mode, and they are still seemingly a quality team, as judged by their record, and have the motivation of paying a team back for a home loss. Plus, on the road, they are granted a few extra points to play with by oddsmakers.
For this weekend, ST JOHN’S visits Providence, VILLANOVA travels to Creighton, and GEORGETOWN is at UConn, all on Saturday, while SETON HALL visits Butler on Sunday
2) CBB Power Conference teams that lost the opening game between teams and are now favorites of 7 points or greater are on a 79-11 SU and 52-37 ATS (58.4%) run.
This is another spot where we have a highly motivated revenge seeker. Surely these teams believe the recent loss to that opponent was a fluke, and the coaching staffs probably bombard them with the reminder all week up until game time.
For this weekend, ST JOHN’S visits Providence, and watch the lines in IOWA STATE-Kansas and ARKANSAS-Auburn, all on Saturday
3) CBB Power Conference teams that lost the opening game between teams and are now double-digit road underdogs have gone just 14-155 SU but are on a 96-72 ATS (57.1%) run.
Consider this a spot where the better team may be taking a late-season matchup against a lesser conference rival too lightly. These games are typically overpriced, and we all know that most conference matchups aren’t easy, regardless of the circumstances with each team.
For this weekend, NORTHWESTERN visits Nebraska, and GEORGETOWN visits Connecticut, both on Saturday
4) CBB Power Conference teams that lost the opening game between teams at home but are scoring more than 78 PPG have been solid revenge teams, going 31-29 and 38-20 ATS (65.5%) since 2021.
The better a team is offensively, perhaps the more fluky the team’s home loss was. This team has the offensive potency and motivation to bounce back effectively in a road-revenge scenario.
For this weekend, ST JOHN’S visits Providence on Saturday
5) CBB Power Conference teams that lost the opening game between teams at home despite scoring 80+ points have also been solid ATS teams in the road revenge game, going 16-31 but 31-16 ATS (65.9%) since 2021.
This is another spot where the better team may have lost on a given night last time. This host put up 80 or more points on its home court yet still lost. That can be a highly motivating scenario as they seek payback on the road the next time around.
For this weekend, no games apply
6) On totals, any CBB Power Conference rematch game that includes a team winning less than 42% of its games has gone Over the total at a 144-103 (58.3%) rate over the last 4-1/2 seasons.
This angle could be reasoned with the losing teams not being great defensively, and the opponent, having seen them already, fattening up on a second chance to put together some big offensive numbers.
The NORTHWESTERN-Nebraska and MARQUETTE-Xavier games qualify on Saturday
