College Basketball Best Bets Today:
Wednesday might feel underwhelming after the mammoth college hoops schedule we had on Tuesday, but don’t let that keep you from finding action on tonight’s games. The NBA is nearing the All-Star Break, so some players are halfway to Cabo, and the NHL is on the 4 Nations break, so college hoops will dominate the airwaves and the betting handle.
With 44 games spread across a bunch of conferences, there will be something for everyone tonight and some good opportunities to cash a bet.

Army Black Knights at Loyola Maryland Greyhounds (-2.5, 144.5)
7 p.m. ET
In my humble opinion, the wrong team is favored tonight in the Patriot League matchup between Army and Loyola (MD). This is a rematch of the game back on Jan. 8, which Army won 74-72 and failed to cover as a 3.5-point favorite, but that doesn’t tell the entire story. The Black Knights led by as many as 18 in the second half and led by 10 with about 2:21 left. They didn’t score again.
Army had four missed free throws, two missed layups, and a missed 3-pointer down the stretch, as they couldn’t take care of business on their 1-and-1 first attempts. Admittedly, that is a bit of a concern here, as Army is shooting just 65.6% at the free throw line, which ranks 343rd in the nation.
But, that first game absolutely should have gone differently. Army won the turnover battle and also had 34 shot attempts at the rim. They were 3-of-8 at the free throw line, which wound up being a big factor in the game. The Black Knights should win the turnover battle again and are the better offensive team in both 2P% and 3P%. They’re also simply playing better. After starting 0-2 in league play, they’ve won eight of their last 10. Many of them have been very close, as they are 9-3 in games decided by six or fewer points, despite that poor FT%.
In a game projected to be close, they’ve been better at finishing those off and putting them in the win column.
Pick: Army +2.5
Presbyterian Blue Hose at Charleston Southern Buccaneers (-1.5, 137.5)
7:30 p.m. ET
Charleston Southern looks for revenge against Presbyterian tonight after a 10-point loss back on Jan. 22. The Bucs have won three of their last four and had a really impressive win last time out on the road at Gardner-Webb without leading assist man RJ Johnson, who is in concussion protocol.
I’m not sure if Johnson will play tonight or not, but I was really encouraged by the way that the Bucs shot the ball and continued their offensive upswing. They were just 3-of-16 from 3 in the first game against Presbyterian, but went 18-of-32 at the rim. The Bucs had 17 more shot attempts at the rim and found very little resistance when they got there. This is also a team that gets to the free throw line a lot and refs tend to have more favorable whistles towards the home squad.
Presbyterian takes a lot of mid-range jumpers and had an out-of-body experience on them by going 17-of-30 in the first meeting. I can’t foresee a similar performance and that type of shooting effort helped the Blue Hose overcome deficits in both the turnover and offensive rebound departments.
Charleston Southern is on a bit of an upswing right now and there are some good signs of regression to the mean in the box score from the last game that have me encouraged tonight. The Bucs are the best team in the conference by adjusted defensive efficiency and the offense has come alive of late.
Pick: Charleston Southern -1.5
