College Basketball Bets
College basketball is going to be a little bit limited this week, as a lot of schools are having exam weeks and it is very important to keep your players eligible. Some schools certainly prioritize academics more than others. You’ll also see some regional games with big-name programs simply trying to stay sharp and their low-major opponents getting paychecks on a light week.
So, we’ll see how things play out this week, but for right now, we have six games and none of them are overly compelling matchups, but the ability to place a bet on any game you want can make that particular one compelling.

South Carolina State Bulldogs at Charleston Southern Buccaneers (-9.5, 153.5)
7 p.m. ET
We have a rather interesting game here between SC State and Charleston Southern. What makes it so interesting is that Erik Martin’s Bulldogs are 0-9 on the season and have allowed over a point per possession in all nine games that they have played. This is a team that relies on forcing turnovers because they don’t rebound very well and don’t have much rim protection. Opponents are shooting over 69% with a 46.3% shot share on Close Twos.
They just don’t have the height or length on the interior and they have played a very strong schedule to this point, which has hurt them in multiple ways. But, only one of them is with not forcing takeaways and not being able to score in transition. Per CBB Analytics, last year’s SC State squad ranked in the 89th percentile in percentage of points on Fast Breaks. This season, they rank in the 51st percentile.
This should be an up-tempo game, with both teams in the 70s in pace. Charleston Southern is 227th in the nation in TO% on offense, so I do think that the Bulldogs can get out and run here and find some success. But, this is also a game with a Buccaneers bunch that has taken a 3-pointer on over 51% of their shot attempts. They only have a 12% shot share on mid-range jumpers, so I love their high Rim & 3 Rate.
Pair that with a SC State team that is atrocious on defense, can’t get a defensive rebound, and should be able to find a little more success in transition on offense and I think this is a high-scoring affair.
Pick: Over 153.5
