Florida vs. Houston
Both teams are elite at generating second-chance scoring opportunities, with Houston ranking ninth in the country in offensive rebound percentage and Florida even better—grabbing an offensive board on 37.8% of their missed shots, good for fourth nationally. While Houston ranks in the bottom 10 in total possessions per game, their offense is still one of the most efficient, coming in at 22nd in points per possession, thanks in large part to leading the nation in 3-point shooting at 39.9%. Florida’s offense is even more efficient, ranking fourth in points per possession, and they have the perimeter defense to take away Houston’s biggest weapon—ranking sixth nationally in opponent 3-point percentage at just 29.5%.
Walter Clayton became the first player since Larry Bird to record back-to-back 30+ point performances in the Elite Eight or later in the NCAA Tournament, and he’s the difference-maker in this tight matchup.
Pick: Florida -1 and Over 141 (Greg’s Handicap: Florida -2, Total 142)
