Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern
Appalachian State ranks 19th in the country in points per possession allowed away from home, while Georgia Southern struggles to take care of the ball, ranking 302nd in turnovers per possession. In a tight game, Georgia Southern’s 63.6% free throw shooting at home ranks 353rd in the nation.
Pick: Appalachian State -1.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Appalachian State -6)
Ohio vs. Western Michigan
Ohio’s biggest issue has been its three-point defense, ranking 360th in opponent three-point shooting percentage away from home at 40.4%. However, this shouldn’t be as big of a problem on Tuesday, as Western Michigan’s 24.1% three-point shooting percentage at home is the worst in the country. Western Michigan also ranks 283rd in two-point shooting percentage on offense and 345th in two-point shooting percentage defense.
Picks: Ohio -5 and Under 155.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Ohio -9 and Total 149.5)
Northern Illinois vs. Miami (OH)
Northern Illinois ranks 345th in opponent road three-point shooting percentage at 38.7%, facing a Miami (OH) team that is making 42.5% of its three-point shots at home, ranking fourth in the nation. Additionally, Northern Illinois is grabbing an offensive rebound on only 14.3% of its missed shots, which ranks last (364th) in Division I.
Pick: Miami (OH) -14.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Miami (OH) -18.5)
Saint Louis vs. Davidson
Both teams will get plenty of clean possessions, as Saint Louis ranks 334th in turnovers while Davidson ranks 314th. Davidson is also 71st in the country in points per possession, while Saint Louis leads the country in road two-point shooting percentage.
Pick: Over 144.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 148.5)
Providence vs. Marquette
Marquette is making only 31% of its three-point shots at home, ranking 302nd in the country. However, on defense, it ranks 32nd in points per possession allowed at home and ninth in turnovers forced per possession. Providence, meanwhile, ranks 241st in total possessions per game and 150th in points per possession.
Pick: Under 148.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 143.5)
Old Dominion vs. Marshall
Marshall forward Obinna Anchili-Killen is averaging 4.3 blocks per game in conference play, the highest in the nation. Meanwhile, Old Dominion ranks 358th in the country in three-point shooting percentage, 284th in points per possession, and 238th in possessions per game.
Pick: Under 148.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 142)
8:00 PM Eastern
Indiana State vs. Murray State
Indiana State ranks 322nd in the country in points per possession allowed away from home and ninth in possessions per game away from home, while also ranking 85th in points per possession away from home.
Pick: Over 149.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 153.5)
8:30 PM Eastern
Lindenwood vs. Western Illinois
Lindenwood’s 27.5% three-point shooting ranks 360th in the country, and the team is 351st in points per possession in road games. Meanwhile, Western Illinois ranks 43rd in the country in three-point shooting percentage at 36.9%.
Pick: Western Illinois PK (Greg’s Handicap: Western Illinois -3.5)
9:00 PM Eastern
Iowa vs. Illinois
While Illinois has struggled on defense recently, it still ranks 23rd in points per possession allowed at home. Iowa’s offense is not the same away from home, ranking 70th in points per possession away from home compared to 21st at home—a 13.8 points per 100 possessions difference.
Pick: Under 171.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 168)
Mississippi State vs. Alabama
Alabama ranks 16th in the country in opponent three-point shooting percentage at home (27.6%), while Mississippi State ranks 297th, allowing opponents to make 36% of their three-point shots. Alabama attempts 46.7% of its field goal attempts from three-point range, ranking 34th in the country.
Picks: Alabama -8 and Under 171.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Alabama -11.5 and Total 167.5)
