Southern Miss vs. Appalachian State

Appalachian State ranks 73rd in the nation in points per possession allowed and faces a Southern Miss team that ranks 345th in turnovers per possession away from home and 243rd in road two-point shooting percentage on defense.

Pick: Appalachian State -8.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Appalachian State -14)

7:00 PM Eastern

Rice vs. East Carolina

East Carolina has struggled along the perimeter, ranking 354th in opponent three-point shooting percentage while making only 27.8% of their three-point shots at home, ranking 351st in the country. They face a Rice team that is 63rd in points per possession allowed away from home and 61st in rebound percentage.

Pick: Rice +7.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Rice +2.5)

Texas State vs. Old Dominion

Old Dominion ranks 361st in the country in home three-point shooting percentage at 25.3%, which mitigates their weakness of ranking 350th in opponent three-point shooting percentage. Texas State, ranked 47th in three-point shooting percentage, faces an Old Dominion team that is 251st in points per possession allowed on defense.

Pick: Texas State -2.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Texas State -7.5)

Rhode Island vs. Fordham

Fordham’s offense has scored 66 points or fewer in six of its past nine games, ranking 232nd in points per possession. Rhode Island has a defensive edge, ranking 74th in points per possession allowed, compared to Fordham’s 222nd ranking. Rhode Island also ranks 39th in the nation in road rebound percentage.

Pick: Rhode Island -1 (Greg’s Handicap: Rhode Island -7.5)

Navy vs. Boston University

Boston University ranks just 300th in points per possession on offense but generates 14.5 more points per 100 possessions at home than away. They should control the glass, ranking 30th overall in rebound percentage, which improves to 12th in home games.

Pick: Boston University +1 (Greg’s Handicap: Boston U -4)

8:00 PM Eastern

Tulane vs. UT San Antonio

UT San Antonio ranks 322nd in the country in points per possession allowed. While Tulane ranks 75th in this category overall, their ranking drops to 185th away from home. UT San Antonio is shooting 36.7% from three-point range at home this season.

Pick: Over 148.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 154)

West Virginia vs. TCU

West Virginia ranks 18th in the country in points per possession allowed, while TCU ranks just 263rd in points per possession on offense and 293rd in three-point shooting percentage. West Virginia is strong defensively down low, ranking 36th in shot block percentage and 31st in opponent two-point shooting percentage.

Pick: West Virginia +1.5 (Greg’s Handicap: West Virginia -2)

Southern Illinois vs. Evansville

Evansville ranks 328th in the nation in both points per possession on offense and rebound percentage. Southern Illinois ranks 136th in rebound percentage, and their offense remains consistent away from home, averaging only 0.1 points per 100 possessions fewer than at home.

Pick: Southern Illinois +1 (Greg’s Handicap: Southern Illinois -3)

SMU vs. Virginia Tech

SMU plays at a fast pace, ranking 63rd in total possessions per game. They face a Virginia Tech defense that ranks 259th in points per possession allowed. SMU ranks 13th in the country in three-point shooting percentage, making 39.5% of their shots away from home. Virginia Tech has improved their turnovers per game, reducing them to 11.4 in conference play from 15 in non-conference play.

North Alabama vs. Austin Peay

Both teams play at a moderate tempo, with Austin Peay ranking 188th and North Alabama 219th in total possessions per game. Austin Peay ranks just 319th in the nation in points per possession, while North Alabama’s three-point shooting has declined from past seasons, ranking 191st in percentage.
