Cincinnati vs. Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State has struggled on defense this season, ranking 179th in points per possession allowed and 256th in opponent 3-point shooting. Cincinnati has maximized their possessions, ranking 38th in fewest turnovers per possession. They showed Oklahoma State could be sped them up when Oklahoma State beat them 78-67 in Stillwater over the weekend.

Pick: Cincinnati vs. Oklahoma State Over 139.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Total 143)

2:00 PM Eastern

Pittsburgh vs. Notre Dame

Pittsburgh does the little things well on offense, ranking 15th in road free throw percentage at 79.1% and 29th in fewest turnovers per possession on offense. Notre Dame is one of the best 3-point shooting teams away from home, making 38.9% of their 3-point shots this season. Both teams rank 167th or worse in points per possession allowed.

Pick: Pittsburgh vs. Notre Dame Over 137.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Total 141)

4:30 PM Eastern

Utah Tech vs. Southern Utah

Southern Utah forces teams to go inside, with teams only attempting 27.5% of their shots from 3-point range against their defense, the lowest percentage of 3-point attempts in the country. Utah Tech’s offense ranks 273rd in the country in 2-point shooting percentage. On defense, they rank 321st in points per possession allowed.

Pick: Southern Utah +3.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Southern Utah -2)

California vs. Virginia Tech

Both teams have been in the bottom 100 nationally in total defense. Virginia Tech is 270th in points per possession allowed and California is 275th in points per possession allowed. California is also 357th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage at 38.2%. On offense, they rank 66th in percentage of missed shots that result in an offensive rebound.

Pick: California vs. Virginia Tech Over 140 (Greg’s Handicap: Total 144)

6:30 PM Eastern

UTEP vs. Sam Houston State

UTEP ranks 12th in the nation in turnovers per possession forced and should put a Sam Houston State team that is 256th in turnovers committed per possession under duress. UTEP’s 3-point shooting away from home is 34.8% compared to 33.5% at home. They should get plenty of clean looks against a Sam Houston State group that is 293rd in opponent 3-point shooting percentage and 301st in points per possession allowed.

Pick: UTEP PK (Greg’s Handicap: UTEP -2.5)

7:00 PM Eastern

St. Francis (PA) vs. Central Connecticut

Unlike many conference tournaments, the Northeast Conference uses true home campus locations, so this is a home game for a Central Connecticut unit that ranks 15th in the nation in fewest points per possession allowed. They face a St. Francis (PA) offense that is having difficulty executing on offense, ranking 325th in turnovers per possession and 304th in points per possession away from home.

Pick: Central Connecticut -9 (Greg’s Handicap: Central Connecticut -11.5)

Youngstown State vs. Robert Morris

Robert Morris ranks seventh in the nation in road offensive rebound percentage, corralling 36.2% of their missed shots as an offensive rebound to offset ranking 280th in turnovers per possession. They improve to 135th in this category in games played away from home. Youngstown State is 171st in this category. Youngstown State ranks 226th in points per possession on offense and 312th in 3-point shooting percentage at 31.1%.

Pick: Robert Morris -3 And Under 142.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Robert Morris -5.5 and Total 139.5

8:30 PM Eastern

Fairfield vs. Sacred Heart

Fairfield has struggled across the board this season, ranking outside of the top 290 in both points scored and allowed per possession. They face a Sacred Heart team that is 28th in road 3-point shooting percentage away from home at 37.2%, while Fairfield’s defense is 311th in the country in opponent 3-point shooting percentage at 36.1%.

Pick: Sacred Heart -3.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Sacred Heart -8)

9:00 PM Eastern

Western Kentucky vs. Florida International

These teams love to push the tempo. Western Kentucky is 13th in the country in total possessions per game, and Florida International is 50th. Both teams have not shot the ball well from 3-point range away from home. Western Kentucky makes 27.8% of their 3-point shots away from home and Florida International is at 25.4%, but Florida International is 13th in highest percentage of field goal attempts that come from inside the 3-point line. Additionally, Florida International has allowed at least 75 points in six of their past eight games.

Pick: Western Kentucky vs. Florida International Over 143

St. Mary’s vs. Gonzaga

St. Mary’s ranks third in the country in points per possession allowed away from home and rebounds 39.4% of their missed shots, the second-best offensive rebound percentage in the nation. St. Mary’s also went 2-0 against Gonzaga in the regular season, holding them to 58 and 67 points in those games. The only other team to hold Gonzaga to 67 points or fewer this season is UCLA.

Pick: St. Mary’s +3.5 (Greg’s Handicap: St. Mary’s -2.5)

Montana State vs. Northern Colorado

Northern Colorado has the edge on the glass, ranking third in the country in defensive rebound percentage. Opponents only rebound 20.7% of their missed shots. On offense, they lead the country in field goal shooting percentage and 36th in points per possession and should not be pressured heavily by a Montana State defense that ranks 303rd in turnovers generated per possession.

Pick: Northern Colorado -3.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Northern Colorado -5.5)

9:30 PM Eastern

Central Florida vs. Utah

Utah has some pretty drastic home and road splits, ranking 79th in points per possession at home, but they are 301st in points per possession away from home, scoring 18.7 points per 100 possessions fewer away from home. Central Florida should get plenty of second chances to score, with Utah 298th in road defensive rebound percentage.

Pick: Central Florida +2.5 (Greg’s Handicap Central Florida -2.5)
