Temple vs. Florida State
5:00 PM ET
Though it is a small sample size, Temple entered Thursday fifth in the country in points scored on a per possession basis in games played away from home and face a Florida State team that thrives when they have length and depth…which they do not have this season, with only one player averaging more than 8.8 points per game and three players hauling in more than 2.8 rebounds per game.
Temple +5 (Greg’s Handicap Temple -4.5)
Louisiana vs. Liberty
5:30 PM ET
Liberty has not been as efficient on offense as in past seasons, entering Thursday ranked 149th in the nation in points scored on a per possession basis and having scored 67 points or fewer in regulation play in three of their last four games against Division I competition. Now they face a Louisiana team that led Division I college basketball in opponent 3-point shooting percentage a season ago.
Louisiana +13.5 (Greg’s Handicap Louisiana +6)
UT Martin vs. Le Moyne
6:00 PM ET
UT Martin is a completely new look team made up of mostly junior college transfers by former Eastern Florida State coach Jeremy Shulman, whose offense is taking time to get on the same page, entering Thursday 300th in the country in points scored on a per possession basis. The Skyhawks are also going to be playing for the second time in two days against a rested Le Moyne team, whose 1-4 record comes with losses against four quality teams, playing Syracuse to within four points to begin the season.
Le Moyne +3 (Greg’s Handicap Le Moyne -5.5)
Southern Illinois vs. Florida
7:00 PM ET
Across nine games this season, these two teams have scored at least 78 points in all but one of them. Southern Illinois has had one of the largest tempo shifts in the country, going from 319th in possessions per game last season with 77th this season entering Thursday.
Southern Illinois vs. Florida Over 155 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 163.5)
South Dakota vs. Southern Indiana
8:00 PM ET
While South Dakota’s 5-1 record on the surface looks nice, two of their wins have come against non-Division I teams and they have allowed at least 76 points to each Division I team they have played. I expect they will have problems defending the perimeter against a Southern Indiana team that is making 37.2% of their 3-point attempts.
Southern Indiana +3.5 (Greg’s Handicap Southern Indiana -2)
Mississippi State vs. SMU
8:30 PM ET
Mississippi State is not the same team on the glass as they have been in years past, ranking 148th in rebound rate this season after ranking 28th or better in this category the previous two seasons. Now they play their first true road game against an SMU team that is 36th in the country in points scored on a per possession basis.
SMU Moneyline (Greg’s Handicap SMU -4)
