1:00 PM Eastern
Princeton Tigers vs. St. Joseph’s Hawks
The Princeton offense is not what it has been in past seasons, ranking 272nd in points per possession with a turnover rate that sits 254th nationally after ranking 51st last season. St. Joseph’s should also see positive regression from their current 26.9% 3-point shooting, as Princeton is allowing opponents to shoot 37.1% from deep in games played away from home.
Pick: St. Joseph’s -3.5 (Greg’s Handicap St. Joseph’s -7)
1:30 PM Eastern
Appalachian State Mountaineers vs. UNC Asheville Bulldogs
The Appalachian State defense has uncharacteristically struggled, ranking 300th in points per possession allowed. They face a UNC Asheville team that is 25th nationally in 3-point shooting at 39.5%. However, the Mountaineers hold an advantage inside, as UNC Asheville ranks 294th in offensive rebound percentage while Appalachian State sits 143rd. Asheville is also 355th in turnovers per possession on offense.
Pick: Appalachian State +3.5 (Greg’s Handicap Appalachian State -2)
2:00 PM Eastern
Yale Bulldogs vs. Vermont Catamounts
While the Yale offense has been extremely efficient—ranking second nationally in points per possession in games played away from home—they play at a very slow pace, ranking 320th in possessions per game. Vermont’s pace ranking of 230th is faster than usual, but skewed by their double-overtime game against Brown. Yale’s current 45.9% 3-point shooting, the best mark in the country, is nearly impossible to sustain and should dip.
Pick: Yale vs. Vermont Under 151.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 145)
3:30 PM Eastern
Belmont Bruins vs. Charleston Cougars
Charleston opened the season dealing with several injuries, but the return of point guard Connor Hickman helped spark a 2–1 run at the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Their current 19.4% 3-point shooting at home should rise significantly, given they made 41.4% of their threes at home last season. Belmont should see negative regression defensively, as opponents have made only 27.3% of their threes this season despite allowing 35.1% last year with the same core, and they remain 342nd in turnovers per possession.
Pick: Charleston +3.5 (Greg’s Handicap Charleston -2.5)
St. Bonaventure Bonnies vs. Florida Atlantic Owls
Florida Atlantic is struggling to defend the perimeter for a second straight season, ranking 344th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage after finishing 341st in the same metric a year ago. St. Bonaventure has also created plenty of second chances, ranking 22nd in offensive rebound percentage with 37.8% of their missed shots becoming offensive boards.
Picks: St. Bonaventure +4.5 and Over 146.5 (Greg’s Handicap St. Bonaventure +1.5 and Total 149.5)
Alabama A&M Bulldogs vs. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina has increased their tempo to 135th in possessions per game after ranking 354th last season, and they should find plenty of quality looks inside against an Alabama A&M defense ranked 358th in opponent 2-point shooting percentage. However, Alabama A&M should also benefit from clean possessions, as Coastal Carolina ranks 353rd in turnovers per possession after finishing 364th last season.
Pick: Alabama A&M vs. Coastal Carolina Over 139.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 144)
4:00 PM Eastern
Prairie View Panthers vs. North Texas Mean Green
This is a clash of tempos, with North Texas ranking 329th in possessions per game and Prairie View 42nd. North Texas should consistently generate good looks and extended possessions, as Prairie View’s aggressive turnover-seeking style leaves them 333rd in opponent 3-point percentage and 353rd in rebound percentage. Prairie View, however, turns their forced turnovers into transition scoring.
Pick: Prairie View vs. North Texas Over 137 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 143.5)
5:00 PM Eastern
San Diego Toreros vs. Long Beach State 49ers
San Diego has been playing at a relatively slow tempo, ranking 246th in possessions per game, while Long Beach State ranks 205th. Long Beach State has not maximized their possessions, ranking 244th in turnovers per possession and 316th in points per possession. San Diego sits 214th in points per possession but struggles to create second-chance points, ranking 320th in offensive rebound percentage.
Pick: San Diego vs. Long Beach State Under 152.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 145.5)
UC Irvine Anteaters vs. San Jose State Spartans
UC Irvine has increased their tempo in recent years, ranking 102nd in possessions per game. San Jose State, however, is 352nd and is getting dominated inside, allowing opponents to make 72% of their 2-point attempts—the worst mark in Division I. That issue is magnified by UC Irvine taking 70.1% of their field goals from 2-point range, the 20th-highest rate in the country.
Picks: UC Irvine -1.5 and Over 134.5 (Greg’s Handicap UC Irvine -4.5 and Total 139.5)
6:00 PM Eastern
Coppin State Eagles vs. Loyola Maryland Greyhounds
Coppin State has continued to struggle offensively, ranking 355th in points per possession after ranking 363rd last season. Loyola Maryland should generate plenty of second-chance opportunities, as Coppin State allows opponents to grab 37.6% of their missed shots as offensive rebounds, ranking 341st nationally.
Pick: Loyola Maryland -11.5 (Greg’s Handicap Loyola Maryland -18.5)
