Western Michigan Broncos vs. Campbell Fighting Camels
Campbell had a spirited effort against West Virginia, staying within single digits in a 73–65 loss on Thursday, and is back to playing a slow, defensive-oriented brand of basketball, ranking 37th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage last season and 301st in total possessions per game. Western Michigan loses its top five scorers from a season ago and did not address its 3-point shooting woes in the transfer portal after ranking 361st nationally in 3-point shooting percentage and 242nd in points per possession last season.
Pick: Western Michigan vs. Campbell Under 153.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 144.5)

Marquette Golden Eagles vs. Indiana Hoosiers
Marquette benefits from this game being in Chicago, less than 90 minutes from campus, and has the element of chemistry on its side, having added from the transfer portal once again this offseason. Marquette was 18th nationally in turnovers forced per possession on defense last season, which may bother a new-look Indiana team led by Darian DeVries, whose West Virginia squad ranked only 254th in points per possession—though injuries played a big part in that.
Pick: Marquette Moneyline (Greg’s Handicap: Marquette -2.5)
Texas A&M Aggies vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys
While both teams have scored 95 points or more in their three combined games this season, those outputs came against outmatched opponents. The Oklahoma State offense still has plenty of question marks after ranking 284th in points per possession last season, while Texas A&M is searching for its main rotation under former Samford coach Bucky McMillan, whose defenses ranked in the top 17 nationally in turnovers forced per possession in each of the past two seasons.
Pick: Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State Under 169.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 159)
Marist Red Foxes vs. Dartmouth Big Green
Dartmouth excelled on the defensive glass last season, ranking fifth nationally in defensive rebound percentage, allowing opponents to rebound only 21.7% of their missed shots. The Big Green return their top two rebounders and three of their top five scorers as they face a Marist team that traditionally plays strong defense, ranking fifth in opponent 2-point shooting percentage last season, but also lost its top scorer from a team that ranked 283rd in points per possession.
Pick: Dartmouth Moneyline (Greg’s Handicap: Dartmouth -4.5)
Pennsylvania Quakers vs. American Eagles
American returns much of its guard rotation from a team that made the NCAA Tournament a season ago. While Fran McCaffery’s Iowa teams ranked in the top 33 nationally in points per possession in each of the past eight seasons, he now has a much lower level of talent and faces an American squad that perennially plays at one of the slowest paces in the country, ranking 310th or lower in total possessions per game in each of the past four seasons.
Pick: Pennsylvania vs. American Under 155.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 146)
NC Central Eagles vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers
NC Central tried to improve a defense that ranked 356th in opponent 2-point shooting percentage last season but is once again among the nation’s bottom 50 in that category through two games this year. They face an Appalachian State unit that does not create much ball pressure, allowing for clean possessions, as the Mountaineers ranked 328th nationally in turnovers forced per possession last season.
Pick: NC Central vs. Appalachian State Over 131 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 140.5)
Coppin State Eagles vs. James Madison Dukes
James Madison had a rough defensive showing to open the season in an 85–71 loss to Akron but should get back on track against a Coppin State team that ranked 363rd in points per possession last season. The Dukes appear committed to their slow and controlled style, ranking 307th in total possessions per game a year ago.
Picks: James Madison -20.5 and Under 148 (Greg’s Handicap: James Madison -23.5 and Total 143.5)
2:00 PM Eastern
Vermont Catamounts vs. Brown Bears
Vermont plays its first Division I game of the season after facing two non-Division I opponents, one of which—Western New England—gave them an unexpected test in a 75–68 win. The Catamounts may struggle on the glass after ranking 283rd in offensive rebound percentage last season. Brown’s top two returning players, Landon Lewis and Alexander Lesburt, missed the team’s season opener against Siena, a 62–46 slog, and now face a Vermont team that ranked 360th in possessions per game last season.
Picks: Brown Moneyline and Under 131 (Greg’s Handicap: Brown -1.5 and Total 125.5)
5:00 PM Eastern
North Texas Mean Green vs. Loyola Chicago Ramblers
Loyola Chicago is coming off one of its worst losses in recent memory, falling at home to Mercyhurst 73–65 and losing the rebounding battle 36–30. They should recover on the boards against a North Texas team led by Daniyal Robinson, whose Cleveland State squad ranked 311th in defensive rebound percentage last season, allowing opponents to rebound 30.8% of their missed shots. North Texas also faces a disadvantage in what is technically a neutral-site game, as it’s being played in Illinois at Now Arena.
Picks: Loyola Chicago Moneyline and Over 141.5 (Greg’s Handicap: Loyola Chicago -1.5 and Total 145.5)
1:00 AM Eastern (Monday)
East Texas A&M Lions vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
East Texas A&M makes the longest road trip of the season so far with an offense that should be somewhat improved thanks to Ronnie Harrison, who transferred from Tarleton State after averaging 10.6 points per game last season in limited action. Still, he alone isn’t enough to turn around an offense that ranked 352nd in points per possession a year ago. Hawaii, meanwhile, remains dominant on the glass, ranking 18th nationally in rebound percentage last season and showing its defensive strength in a 60–59 loss to Oregon in the season opener.
Pick: East Texas A&M vs. Hawaii Under 147 (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 140.5)
