7 p.m. ET: Purdue Fort Wayne (-3.5, 162.5) at Western Michigan
Purdue Fort Wayne (1-2) just secured their first win of the season, crushing Dominican Illinois 137-56. Meanwhile, Western Michigan (1-2) has dropped two straight and just fell to Campbell 91-82.
This line opened with Purdue Fort Wayne listed as a short 1-point road favorite.
The public sees two lackluster teams with a short spread and doesn’t know which side to take.
However, despite this 50/50 ticket split at DraftKings we’ve seen Purdue Fort Wayne get steamed up from -1 to -3.5.
In a vacuum, a line shouldn’t move at all if the tickets are split because, theoretically, the oddsmakers have balanced action and no need to adjust the spread one way or another. So, based on the line move we can infer that the bigger, sharper wagers have backed Purdue Fort Wayne.
At DraftKings, Purdue Fort Wayne is taking in 50% of spread bets but 63% of spread dollars. At Circa, Purdue Fort Wayne is receiving 80% of spread bets and 84% of spread dollars. Both books are showing a “low bets, higher dollars” bet discrepancy in favor of the road chalk.
Sharps have also looked to mitigate some risk by paying up to take Purdue Fort Wayne on the moneyline (-155).
At DraftKings, Purdue Fort Wayne is receiving 60% of moneyline bets and 73% of moneyline dollars, further evidence of pros backing a straight up victory for the road team.
8 p.m. ET: Middle Tennessee at Evansville (-2.5, 140.5)
Middle Tennessee (2-0) just demolished Webster 109-56. Similarly, Evansville (2-1) just brushed aside Oakland City 76-47.
This line opened with Evansville listed as a 1-point home favorite.
The public is leaning slightly toward road dog Middle Tennessee State, who is undefeated and has blown out their first two opponents of the young season.
However, despite 55% of spread bets at DraftKings backing Middle Tennessee State we’ve actually seen this line move further toward Evansville -1 to -2.5. This signals sneaky reverse line movement in favor of the home team.
At DraftKings, Evansville is receiving 46% of spread bets but 64% of spread dollars. At Circa, Evansville is taking in 25% of spread bets but a whopping 92% of spread dollars. Both books are showing a notable “low bets, higher dollars” sharp contrarian bet discrepancy in favor of the home chalk Purple Aces.
Sharps have also looked to protect themselves by backing Evansville on the moneyline (-145).
At DraftKings, Evansville is receiving 49% of moneyline bets and 57% of moneyline dollars. At Circa, Evansville is taking in 33% of moneyline bets but a hefty 99% of moneyline dollars, further evidence of the pros out in Vegas backing a straight up victory for the home team.
Evansville is 2-0 at home this season and playing their third straight home game. On the other hand, Middle Tennessee is playing their first game on the road.
8 p.m. ET: Nicholls at Valparaiso (-2.5, 144.5)
Nicholls (0-2) just came up short against Eastern Illinois 65-57. Meanwhile, Valparaiso (1-1) just got steamrolled by powerhouse Kentucky 107-59.
This line opened with Valparaiso listed as a 1.5-point home favorite.
Sharps have jumped on Valparaiso laying short chalk at home, driving the Beacons up from -1.5 to -2.5.
This movement is especially notable considering the fact that this a tiny, low bet “added/extra” game, which means the public has little to interest in the matchup and can’t even find it in on their betting app. However, based on the line move we can infer that pros have specifically targeted this matchup and sided with the home chalk.
Sharps have also looked to protect themselves in the event of a close game by playing Valaparaiso on the moneyline (-135).
At DraftKings, the Beacons are taking in 83% of moneyline bets and 91% of moneyline dollars, a massive one-way bet split signaling heavy pro action in an overlooked and obscure game.
Nicholls is 0-2 on the road this season and the Colonels are playing their third straight road game. On the other hand, Valparaiso is 1-0 on the home court.
