Ohio State (-2.5, 55) vs. Oregon

This is a perfect example of how ridiculous the seeding was in this tournament, as undefeated Oregon has to play perhaps the second-best team in the country in the quarterfinals. This is a rematch of an October regular-season meeting, where Oregon won 32-31 in a game that saw both offenses dominate. Ohio State averaged 6.9 yards per play, while Oregon racked up 7.5 yards per play and nearly 500 yards of offense. The last time we saw Oregon, they gave up 7 yards per play and nearly 300 yards rushing to Penn St, but came away with a victory due to their 45-point outburst. I expect more fireworks here. I’ll go Over 55.

College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Best Bet: Over 55

Notre Dame vs. Georgia (-2)

I’m worried I’m underrating Notre Dame due to their past failures when they’ve stepped up in competition over the years. But I can’t get past the strength of schedule discrepancy here. Georgia played the toughest schedule, including games against Alabama, Ole Miss, Clemson, and two games against Texas, none of those at home, as well as a game vs Tennessee. Meanwhile, Notre Dame’s strength of schedule was in the 60s before their win against Indiana. They haven’t faced nearly the level of competition as Georgia. Kirby Smart, with extra time to prepare and a more battle-tested Georgia team, is enough for me to side with the short favorite here.

College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Best Bet: Georgia -2
