BMW PGA Championship Best Bets and Golf Odds:
The DP World Tour heads to its home base of the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England, to host one of its flagship annual events, the BMW PGA Championship.
Just about all of Europe’s elite players are in the field this week, including 2014 winner Rory McIlroy (10-1).
On the heels of Europe’s victory last weekend in the Solheim Cup, the majority of last year’s Ryder Cup and some future team aspirants were spotted at Adare Manor, the 2027 Ryder Cup venue, within the past several days, including Tommy Fleetwood (14-1), Jon Rahm (14-1), Ludvig Åberg (14-1), Matt Fitzpatrick (18-1), Viktor Hovland (18-1), last week’s Irish Open winner Shane Lowry (20-1), Robert MacIntyre (30-1), Tyrrell Hatton (35-1), last year’s BMW PGA champion Alex Noren (35-1), Justin Rose (35-1), Alex Fitzpatrick (40-1), Kristoffer Reitan (60-1), Eugenio Chacarra (66-1), Angel Ayora (80-1) and Sepp Straka (100-1).
Others in this week’s field include Joaquin Niemann (20-1), Patrick Reed (25-1), Ryan Gerard (30-1) and Adam Scott (35-1).
The Event
The BMW PGA Championship was established in 1955 as the British PGA Championship. It was typically played near the end of May but was moved to September in 2019 to avoid conflict with the PGA Championship and has remained in that spot of the calendar since. The winner of the tournament is given an exemption into the U.S. Open and the next three British Opens. A who’s who of European players have victories at his event, including Nick Faldo (1978, 1980, 1981, 1989), Bernhard Langer (1987, 1993, 1995), Colin Montgomerie (1998, 1999, 2000), Seve Ballesteros (1983, 1991), Ian Woosnam (1988, 1997), Francesco Molinari (2018), Rory McIlroy (2014) and Tony Jacklin (1972, 1982).
The Course
The West Course at Wentworth Club in Surrey, England (about 25 miles southwest of London), has hosted the BMW PGA since 1984. The headquarters of the European Tour is located on the grounds of the club. The course was designed in 1926 by Harry Colt, with Ernie Els and European Tour Design doing renovations in 2009 and 2016. Wentworth West is a par-72 of 7,267 yards. It is a tree-lined track with tight fairways and some long rough. Creeping Bentgrass greens replaced Bent/Poa Annua in the 2016 renovation. The greens also have many shaved run-offs. The most recent renovations were made with the intent of getting back to the original Colt design by encouraging more shot-making and allowing more shots to roll onto the greens.

Selections
Ludvig Åberg (14-1, BetMGM)
Åberg was the first-round leader at Wentworth last year.
He also led after rounds two and three on debut here in 2023 before finishing 10th.
The Swede finished the FedExCup Playoffs strongly with two top-10s (4th and 7th) in two of his last three events, as a victory continues to elude him in 2026.
Patrick Reed (25-1, FanDuel)
Reed was the co-runner-up last week at the Irish Open. Granted, he finished 11 shots behind as Shane Lowry lapped the field.
This week, Reed is here at a course where he has never finished outside the top 5. He has finished third (last year), fifth, third and fourth.
As of Aug. 26, Reed is eligible to play PGA Tour events again as a non-member, but he currently leads the non-exempt players on the Race to Dubai points list and is almost a certainty to earn full 2027 PGA Tour status.
He ranks second on the DP World Tour for Strokes Gained: Approach, second for Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green and fourth for Strokes Gained: Around The Green.
Aside from his recent form and past success at Wentworth, there is a bit of extra motivation for Reed here with all of Europe’s elite in this field and a chance to beat them and raise some eyebrows for potential inclusion on the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Tom McKibbin (35-1, BetMGM)
McKibbin has three top-6 finishes in the last five weeks, including a fifth last week in his home Open.
He was not part of the group invited by Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald that was recently at Adare Manor, so that should certainly provide extra motivation.
The Irishman has finished 10th and 11th here the last two years.
Aaron Rai (38-1, DraftKings)
After winning the PGA Championship earlier this spring, Rai has failed to post a top-10 finish in any one of his subsequent nine events and perhaps has already peaked in 2026.
Nevertheless, he has finished third, fourth and second at Wentworth the last three years.
J.J. Spaun (55-1, BetRivers)
Spaun was left off the Presidents Cup team after pulling out of the Tour Championship with a neck and shoulder issue.
This week, he is not preparing for next week, but he is at Wentworth for the first time.
Billy Horschel won here on debut in 2021, so why not another American who clearly has something to prove against Europe’s elite to stay in the Ryder Cup mix for 2027?
