Well, the final round of Masters turned into match play, but not like we thought.
Rory McIlroy won his first Masters title and completed the career Grand Slam, defeating Justin Rose in a sudden-death playoff. Bryson DeChambeau, paired with McIlroy in a much anticipated showdown, faded to a tie for fifth with a 3-over-75.
Matt Youmans summed up Sunday (especially for bettors):
It’s tough to imagine a more dramatic final round than that. Rory lost it three times and won it four times. I had Rose 125/1 and thought that bet was dead about 10 times the last two days. I did add McIlroy +330 on Friday night and was able to bet Rory -140 in the playoff, so no complaints.
Heck, for a minute, I thought Patrick Reed, one of Wes Reynolds’ long shots at 100-1, was going to squeeze into the mix. He finished third, two shots out of the playoff.
In case you are wondering, DraftKings Sportsbook has McIlroy as the +425 favorite to win the 2026 Masters, followed by Xander Schauffele (+1100) and Ludvig Aberg (+1200). Not sure if DK knows something, but Scottie Scheffler wasn’t listed.
