1/ST BET Horse Racing Predictions from Del Mar:
We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country, including Del Mar.
For this Friday, November 8 article, Jeff Siegel shares everything you need to know for today’s racing card at Del Mar.
RACE 5: Post: 2:33 PT Grade: B+
Top Selection/Prime Play: 5-No Bad Beats
Forecast: In what appears to be a better than average sprint for older maiden fillies and mares, the first timer No Bad Beats catches the eye based on recent workouts that stamp her as a win-early type. In what we’ve seen on video, the Doug O’Neill-trained sophomore has gone about her preparations with ease and style and should be plenty fit to fire a big shot first time out. One of the barn’s go-to riders, Antonio Fresu, takes the call, so if this daughter of Midnight Storm breaks with her field she should be hard to beat. We’ll give her a strong push on top in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics.
RACE 8: Post: 4:03 PT Grade: B+
Top Selection/Prime Play: 8-Glamora
Forecast: Glamora tipped her hand in her U.S. debut last spring at Santa Anita when finishing a troubled third, beaten just a length, after encountering traffic when attempting to launch a winning bid at the furlong pole. We haven’t seen her since, but the work tab is solid and indicates she’s fit and ready to pick up where she left off. At this abbreviated five furlong distance the Philip D’Amato-trained Irish-bred will need some help up front, but the Del Mar turf course strongly played for the closers last week and if that trend continues she should be able to tag the leaders close home.
