Jenny Wiley Stakes, Keeneland, Race #9
The graded stakes action on Saturday starts here with the ladies going a mile and a sixteenth over the turf in the Jenny Wiley. Chad Brown has two in here, and I’ll take a shot with the longer price, #5 Dynamic Pricing. He had a breakout three-year-old season with three wins in five races, including the Grade 1 Just A Game at Saratoga. She’s won off a layoff twice already in her career, so we know she can fire off the bench, and the course has been playing toward closers. The 6-1 price is the icing on the cake.
#3 Medoro has run three great races in a row; however, two of the three came with awful trips. The effort sandwiched in the middle is good enough to compete with this group at a very good price. She has also improved with age; if that trend continues here, then she is live.
#7 Lush Lips is the favorite at 5/2 coming off of three wins in a row, including a triumph over older horses at first asking. She takes a step up in class here, but she has passed every test, including running in the exacta in nine straight races.
#8 Destino d’Oro will try to get her picture taken for the fourth time in a row. She will be coming from off the pace, but that should be favorable over this course. I do not like her on top, but she is a likely player in the trifecta market.
Top 4: 5-3-7-8
The Bets: $50 Win #5
Lexington Stakes, Keeneland, Race #10
While Kentucky Derby points are on the line for the final time, it’s highly likely any of these run on the first Saturday in May. Morning line favorite #9 Ezum will try to prove to trainer Brad Cox that he deserves to try the Preakness. He broke his maiden by 19.5 lengths last race, but faces a jump in class and a two-turn test for the first time. He also wants to be forward, and the pace should be fast here.
I’m going to take a shot with #4 Enforced Agenda, who won on debut before a tough trip in the Jerome. Trainer Weaver gave him a break out of that race and showed confidence by throwing him into the deep end here. The price should be right as well at 10-1.
#7 The Hell We Did ships in from Sunland for capable trainer Todd Fincher, who is not going to ship across the country for now reason. He has hurdles, including the massive jump in class and added distance, but the price is right if you trust Fincher.
#3 Decisive Win has yet to live up to his name, finishing 4th in his only career start. Doug O’Neill takes a shot here. He’s fast, very fast, early, and will make the lead. The question is going to simply be how long he can stay there.
Top 4: 4-9-7-3
The Bets: $50 Win #4
