BEST BET: Global Sensation (10th race)

Tenth Race

1. Global Sensation

2. Clear the Beach

3. Factor Analysis

GLOBAL SENSATION runs for a new barn and team Maker are 25% off the claim. We love the fact that connections want 10 furlongs today. Few are better with added distance runners than this barn. Rodriguez gets a leg up and is 33% for this barn. CLEAR THE BEACH has never run poorly. His upside is the best. He draws fine and has improved his Beyer in every start. FACTOR ANALYSIS has solid turf figs that might translate well to here. He can fire off a layoff and has plenty of works.

Here are Scott’s thoughts on the other nine races on Thursday’s Turf Paradise card.

First Race

1. So Far So Good

2. Fivecommatwo

3. Silent Sky

SO FAR SO GOOD returns to 6 1/2 furlongs, where she has never missed the board in three starts. She draws the attack post and even has some tactical speed, so her trip could be best. Team Decker are 25% going route to sprint. FIVECOMMATWO ran evenly in her most recent and now adds a full furlong. She finished 2nd in her only distance try. Second time here and some back class round out the appeal. SILENT SKY has more than a few tries at Woodbine that fit with these. We can discount that Chucktown race where this gal broke last two back. This mare draws better and has won going this distance before.

Second Race

1. Firebird Suite

2. Got Gone

3. Sussudio

FIREBIRD SUITE outran her odds in her only local start, and it came going two turns. Works are well spaced while race flow more than fair. Team Drury add Lasix and that is a 50% move for them. GOT GONE goes second time here and puts races together for the first time. Class drop is main selling point, but alas this barn is 0 for 21 going special weight to maiden claimer. We like that Achard keeps the call. This filly draws fine for whatever trip connections have in mind. SUSSUDIO tried two turns on the turf in her debut, and that is just tough. Her second start was better. She has a pair of recent works, and the price might entice.

Third Race

1. Cut Glass

2. Neoking

3. All Jokes Aside

CUT GLASS has some speed and catches a race light on pace. This hard-trying gelding has hit the exacta on this synth in 8 of 14 starts. A recent work is never a bad thing. Current form is fine, and an early breather would come in handy. NEOKING has improved his Beyer in four straight. This gelding was stuck in the 11 hole in his most recent but still ran great. We expect another good price. ALL JOKES ASIDE has solid figs and is feeling great. New barn is 0 for 8 off the claim, but that sample size is small. A stalking trip, like many in here, is no real help though.

Fourth Race

1. Dewy’s Denali

2. Collecting

3. Hope Joe’s Right

DEWY’S DENALI did little in his debut, but that was a tough spot to begin with. He was denied a clean trip in his second start. Class drop and first time here did the trick last out. Connections add Lasix and find a logical spot to face first-time winners. What if this guy just likes it here? Team Danner are 20% with their repeating winners. COLLECTING went favored when breaking his maiden in a turf route three back but couldn’t follow that up. Any chance this guy disliked blinkers? They are removed today and team McCarthy are 21% when doing so. Class drop is big and works well spaced. Early tote action either way would be of interest. HOPE JOE’S RIGHT ran evenly off the long layoff and is more likely than not to move forward second off it. The Joe Sharp barn is a nice 26% second off this type of layoff.

Fifth Race

1. Breaking Hearts

2. Nicksie

3. Mother Green

BREAKING HEARTS learned a lot in her debut and will be better in her second start. One of four sibs is a multiple winner of 164K. Local works are encouraging, and we like this rail draw. Team DeVaux are 20% off this type of layoff. NICKSIE got the show dough in her debut all at 16-1. She has to be better today, right? This is dam’s first foal, so no help there. Works are perfect. Team Drury are 50% with first Lasix runners. MOTHER GREEN is a versatile runner that puts three races together for the first time. Trainer stats are solid across the board. Second time with Cheminaud up can only help. PINK FLAMINGOS exits a key race where 4 of 7 returned to win with figs of 75, 68, 68, and 64. DELYA is by a 13% debut sire. Her dam went 13-3-1-1 and earned 132K. Lone sib is 16-2-1-2 and earned 87K. BUSH LEAGUE is by a 17% debut sire. Her dam went 21-8-3-0 and earned 177K. This is her first foal.

Sixth Race

1. Flame Dancer

2. Tiz China

3. May May Strong

FLAME DANCER runs for a new barn and team Rivelli are 18% off the claim. We like how this filly can run well whether going one or two turns. Versatile running style is never a bad thing. Rodriguez gets a leg up and is 33% for this barn locally. TIZ CHINA is the other Rivelli horse and probably the better price. This filly has never run poorly. She has good speed but can stalk. That December 20th work was a bullet best of 128. Second Lasix rounds out the appeal. MAY MAY STRONG just ran a little better and hails from a high percentage barn. She draws outside again and should be fully acclimated to here now. Alas, race flow is only average.

Seventh Race

1. Worry Be Gone

2. Plaza Cue

3. Beautiful Pharaoh

WORRY BE GONE ran OK in her debut and did so as a 4YO. The fact that she returns right on time means a little more this time around. Added distance for team Cox is never a bad thing. First blinkers is a 23% move for this barn. Always nice to see the debut rider return. PLAZA CUE has now finished 2nd in seven of nine starts. She has burned chalk players five times. Her figs still figure, and of course, we really like team McPeek. This filly cuts back a full furlong and tries nine furlongs for the first time. Her early zip comes in handy today, and by this race, you should know how this track is playing. BEAUTIFUL PHARAOH beat over half the field home in her last three races. This mare can run all day and figures a better price than a few of these. LILIUM exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 70 and 58.

Eighth Race

1. Goats On a Tree

2. White Rocks

3. Classy’n Connected

GOATS ON A TREE is working well for his return, and perhaps this short freshening helps. Horses that like the turf often take to the local synth. Her last race came back key when 2 of 9 returned to win with figs of 87 and 79. Versatile style is a favorite of ours. WHITE ROCKS just ran a Beyer top and now puts three races together. She returns to a mile where she has never missed the exacta in three starts. Is she the speed of the speed? Other zip is a small concern. CLASSY’N CONNECTED continues to like it here, as that recent win can attest. Race flow is more than favorable for a closer like this mare. Win rider keeps the faith, all for a barn that is 26% with their repeating winners.

Ninth Race

1. Taunting

2. Paraclete

3. Concrete Cruiser

TAUNTING ran just fine before the layoff, and that was his first start here. Works are outstanding. What if this short layoff and second time with new barn both help? Tactical speed means a good trip, and this 4YO draws fine. PARACLETE has won on this synth before. Class drop is main selling point. The blinkers go ON, and that is a 17% move for this barn. Early tote action would be of interest. CONCRETE CRUISER took thirteen starts to break his maiden, but what if he got a taste for winning and liked it? These types often face first-time winners and outrun their odds. This barn is 18% with their repeating winners. STONEMONT REUNION exits a key race where 2 of 7 returned to win with figs of 78 and 74.
