Xpressbet writer Jeff Siegel offers his top plays for Saturday.

Saratoga Race No. 1 (12:35 p.m. ET/9:35 a.m. PT)
#5 Red Route One (5-2)

The son of the sensational second crop stallion Gun Runner has trained like a nice prospect though he’s not a sprinter type, which is why he is debuting going long on grass in this maiden affair for juveniles. The Steve Asmussen-trained colt attracts the stable’s “go-to” rider Joel Rosario and catches a field that on paper doesn’t look all that strong, so at 5-2 on the morning line he should offer legitimate value both in the Win pool and in the various rolling exotics.

Del Mar Race No. 1 (5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT)
#4 Multi Platinum (3-1)

Though he finished far back in his debut when facing an infinitely tougher group of maiden special weight foes, this 3-year-old colt should be set to produce a form reversal in this modest maiden claiming sprint for older horses. A really nice recent gate work tells us this son of Runhappy has sufficient ability to win race at this level, so if he breaks cleanly he should be able to display his true ability. With the switch to top rider Juan Hernandez, the Bob Baffert-trained colt is worth a good gamble at or near his morning line of 3-1.
