Oaklawn Park Picks for Saturday, December 13:

ALL MR. ED WANTS FOR CHRISTMAS: (Here’s hoping Ms. Ed & Mr. Bill are paying special attention). A new HP B&W Ink Jet Printer, ten reams of copypaper, an Apple laptop, a full-year of past performance charts from the Daily Racing Form, to pick many more winners and a few exactas like Friday for VSiN subscribers, a summer weekend at Saratoga with my favorite fellow horseplaying degenerates (you know who you are), another working press trip to the 2026 Breeders’s Cup at Keeneland, an upset victory for our (with Dave Tuley) fantasy league football team, a Super Bowl win for the Green Bay Packers at 11-1, a seat in the Circa Sports Book for March Madness, continued improving good health, a case of Buffalo Trace (medicinal purposes), at least one more dinner at Joe’s Stone Crabs (either in Las Vegas or Miami Beach), a joyful Christmas season and Happy New Year to my extended family, horseplaying friends and all others — and a several winners today at Oakland Park.
HORSING AROUND: Mr. Ed’s pony picking returns to Oaklawn Park for a second consecutive day. Saturday’s 10-race card features the $150K RING THE BELL, a high-class stakes for sprinters going 6 furlongs. The forecast calls for cloudy and cool conditions. First post: 1:30 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at Mr. Ed’s exclusive VSiN selections.
Mr. Ed’s Selections for Oaklawn Park, Saturday, 12/13
Race 1 (1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT) — $30K MAIDEN CLAIMING for fillies and mares, 3YOs & Up going 6 furlongs
Mr. Ed likes a pair to kick off DD: Trainer Ray Ashford sends out lightly raced #6 JET PACK (7-2 morning line) with Ramon Vasquez on board, and #9 CAN’TDEALWITHIT for low-key trainer Adam Kitchingman with Cristian Torres in the saddle. Both co-eds are capable sprinters.
OAKLAWN PARK SELECTION: $5 Daily Double of 6,9-6,7. ($20)
Race 2 (1:58 p.m. ET/10:58 a.m. PT) — $30.5K CLAIMING for fillies and mares, 3YOs & Up going 6 furlongs
I’m betting on either #6 COLDASICE (5-2 morning line) for rookie trainer Kelly Bainum with veteran jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr. sitting chilly, and #7 MISS TIFEYE (4-1) for sharp Matt Shirer with Luis Saez picking up the mount.
Race 3 (2:25 p.m. ET/ 11:25 a.m. PT) — $60K STARTER ALLOWANCE for 3YOs & Up going 6 furlongs
Mr. Ed likes two of three for the money: #2 MIRACLE WORKER (5-2 morning line) for veteran trainer Ron Moquett who brings Luis Saez back to ride; #5 INCURSION (7-2) for always tough Mike Maker barn with Emmanuel Esquivel in the irons, and #9 HAILSTORM (3-1) for savvy trainer Dave Jacobson with top jock Ricardo Santana, Jr.
OAKLAWN PARK SELECTION: $5 Exacta Box. ($30)
Race 7 (4:22 p.m. ET/1:22 p.m. PT) — $100K MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT for 2YOs going 1 1/16-mile
Mr. Ed’s LOCK OF THE DAY is #10 OUR MAGICAL MOON (7-5 morning line). Youngster for Mark Casse looks unbeatable with Jaime Torres picking up the mount. Fourth start is a charm for the son of Good Magic.
OAKLAWN PARK SELECTION: $20 to Win. ($20)
Race 8 (4:22 p.m. ET/1:22 p.m. PT) — $150K RING THE BELL STAKES for 3YOs & Up going 6 furlongs
The field is loaded with talented speedsters. I’ll take a shot with #7 BANISHING (3-1 morning line) for savvy David Jacobson outfit with top rider Luis Saez taking the mount. Classy gelding, with nearly $2 million in earnings, is a true horse for the course.
OAKLAWN PARK SELECTION: $20 to Win. ($20)
Race 9 (5:20 p.m. ET/2:20 p.m. PT) — $100K MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT for 2YOs going 6 furlongs
Mr. Ed likes either of a pair to capture Leg 1 of the late DD: #2 HIMOTHY (7-5 morning line) with Luis Saez back in the saddle for Ron Moquette, or #12 PREDATOR’S BALL (5-1) for Randy Morse; Ricardo Santana, Jr. riding.
OAKLAWN PARK SELECTION: $5 Daily Double of 2,12/3,8. ($20)
Race 10 (5:47 p.m. ET/2:47 p.m. PT) — $115K ALLOWANCE for 3YOs & Up going 6 furlongs
Mr. Ed caps a successful day with #3 VIKING (7-2 morning line), also trained by Randy Morse and ridden by Ricardo Santana, Jr., and #8 OV GEVALD (9-2) for Jimmy DiVito barn with rider Ramon Vasquez.
