1/ST BET Horse Racing Predictions from Santa Anita:
We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country, including Santa Anita.
For this Sunday, February 2 article, Jeff Siegel shares everything you need to know for the racing card for Santa Anita.
Santa Anita Race 5: Post: 2:00 PT
Top Selection/Prime Play: 4-Brother o’ Brien
Forecast: In this split of the second race, Brother o’ Brien looks capable of snapping back after being overmatched in a much tougher starter’s allowance race here last week (beat one horse, always far back). This is a much more realistic spot, and the Pleasanton-based plater should greatly appreciate the class drop to his lowest level ever. Anything close to the numbers he was earning up north should make him hard to beat.
Santa Anita Race 6: Post: 2:33 PT
Top Selection/Prime Play: 5-Tamino
Forecast: Tamino ran a winning race in defeat when a strong runner-up in his debut (well clear of the rest) over the local lawn last month against similar straight maiden 3-year-old rivals. Flavien Prat stays aboard the son of Candy Ride, who projects to be on or near the lead throughout and won’t likely have any issue with today’s extra half furlong. With his expected improvement, this nicely-bred colt looks ready to graduate and then go on to bigger and better things.
