Saturday Betting Recaps

Saturday was a pretty exciting day across the sports betting landscape, highlighted by a full 15-game MLB schedule and Saturday night at the fights with UFC 291 and a boxing event that rivaled anything we’ve seen recently in the sport.

Let’s get to our nightly MLB betting recaps that we post on Twitter @ViewFromVegas, but first let’s go over the main event in the octagon and the ring.

Fighting: Terence Crawford (-160 favorite) beat Errol Spence Jr. by ninth-round TKO to win the undisputed welterweight belt in boxing (stayed Under 10.5 rounds). In mixed-martial arts, Justin Gaethje Jr. (+130 underdog) beat Dustin Poirier by second-round KO in the UFC 291 main event (stayed Under 2.5 rounds).

MLB: Underdogs went 9-5 on Saturday with Cubs-Cardinals closing pick-’em as Cubs won their 8th straight in a 5-1 victory. The biggest upsets were by the Royals (+170 in 10-7 win vs. Twins), Pirates (+160 in 7-6 win vs. Phillies), Nationals (+150 in 11-6 win at Mets) and Tigers (+140 in 5-0 win at Marlins). Home teams went 10-5. Unders led 8-7.

More MLB: Favorites lead 885-647 on the season with 26 games closing pick-’em. Home teams lead 813-741 overall with 4 neutral-site games, though road teams have been cutting into the lead the past few weeks. Unders improved slim lead to 757-738-62 with 1 no-action.
