Cleveland Guardians at Milwaukee Brewers:
The Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Guardians are the respective leaders in the National League and American League Central and hook up this weekend in Milwaukee in a battle of division leaders.
A little over a year ago, Aaron Civale was a starting pitcher for Cleveland and now starts against them for Milwaukee. Civale has had a less-than-stellar 2024 season with a 5.02 ERA and 1.7 home runs per nine innings allowed.
Top MLB Resources:
Civale is backed up by a Brewers lineup that ranks ninth in the league with over 4.8 runs per game, while the Guardians are 12th in runs per game with over 4.6 runs per game.
These two teams have the league’s best bullpens in terms of ERA. The Guardians own a 2.74 ERA and the Brewers a 3.27 ERA, but both have seen an ERA jump since July 1 with the Guardians posting a 3.17 and the Brewers a 3.55 ERA.
Guardians starting pitcher Gavin Williams averages 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings while allowing only three home runs across 39 innings in his eight starts. He has a 4.38 ERA to show for it, issuing three walks per nine innings.
With both starting pitchers being shaky this season and a pair of bullpens that have been the best in the league, but may be getting fatigued, both offenses will cash in with a hard-hitting display on Friday.
