Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Tuesday, June 27th:
Los Angeles Dodgers (-275, 11.5) at Colorado Rockies
J.D. Martinez isn’t the hitter he once was, but he has still been dangerous for Los Angeles this season. He’s batting .254 with 16 homers and 48 RBIs for the Dodgers this year, and he has been one of the team’s best hitters against right-handed pitching. This year, Martinez is batting .267 with two triples, 12 doubles, 14 homers and 41 RBIs against righties. With that in mind, he’s the first player I wanted to target when seeing the Dodgers are facing a righty at Coors Field.
Martinez has actually hit a double off Connor Seabold before, and that’s who will be on the mound for the Rockies in this game. Seabold isn’t anything to write home about as a starter, as he is just 1-7 with a 7.15 ERA in his career. So, it’s hard to find a better matchup than this for Los Angeles, and I like Martinez to benefit from it. Look for him to have a big day at the plate, with an extra base hit or two being extremely possible.
Bet: Martinez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-140)
Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels (-190, 8.5)
Michael Kopech has had an up-and-down 2023 season, which isn’t surprising for a guy that has had an up-and-down career. Kopech has gotten his ERA down to 4.06 after having a 7.01 ERA at the end of April. So, he has been a bit better in recent months. But Kopech has issued nine walks over his last two starts, and his control has been an issue throughout his career. Kopech has also had at least three walks in eight of his 15 starts this season, and I like him to issue at least three tonight.
The Angels are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to hitting righties, so they should be able to apply pressure to Kopech in this one. They hit him pretty hard in a game on May 29th, when the Angels scored four runs in 4.1 innings against Kopech. If they can beat him up a bit in this one, the walks will come. Los Angeles also walks at a higher rate than all but 11 teams, so these guys will know to lay off bad pitches.
Bet: Kopech Over 1.5 Walks (-120)
Tampa Bay Rays at Arizona Diamondbacks (-130, 8.5)
Zac Gallen has had at least six strikeouts in 11 of his 16 starts this season, so it’s crazy to see his total down at 5.5 tonight. Of course, the Rays are one of the worst matchups in the league when it comes to strikeouts. Only 10 teams strike out less often against righties than Tampa Bay. But I tend to think that talent wins out more often than not, and Gallen’s stuff is just so impressive.
Gallen also happens to be getting the Rays at home, where he is 7-0 with a 1.00 ERA this season. Gallen has also struck out 67 hitters in 54.0 innings in Arizona this season, which is good for well over a strikeout per inning. So, he’d theoretically need to go just six innings in this game in order to cash this bet. It’s never quite that simple but I do think you have to bet Gallen at this number.
Bet: Gallen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-140)
