Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Thursday, July 6th:

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers (-115, 8)

Marcus Stroman has been having a tremendous season for the Cubs. The 32-year-old is 9-6 with a 2.76 ERA and has just been sharp from the jump. Now, Stroman is pitching against a Brewers team that he cruised against earlier in the season. In his first start of the year, Stroman threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball and struck out eight batters against Milwaukee. That makes it hard not to back him to reach the five-strikeout mark today.

Stroman isn’t a pitcher that misses a whole lot of bats, but he is a feisty competitor on the mound and has a golden matchup as far as strikeouts go. The Brewers have the sixth-highest strikeout rate in the league against righties this season, so this is a team that can really struggle to make contact. With that in mind, I expect Stroman to go out and miss some bats. This will probably end up being something of a sweat, but the number is just way too low.

Bet: Stroman Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-139)

Texas Rangers (-140, 10) at Boston Red Sox

Nathan Eovaldi is starting for the Texas Rangers today, which isn’t exactly great news for the Red Sox. Eovaldi is 10-3 with a 2.64 ERA this season, and he has looked like an ace for the Rangers thus far. But even with the tough matchup for Boston, I find it hard to go away from Alex Verdugo’s total bases prop.

Verdugo is batting .309 with three triples, 20 doubles, six homers and 24 RBIs against right-handed pitching this year. He has consistently been one of the better hitters in the league against righties, and I don’t think this matchup will intimidate him. Verdugo is also ridiculously good at Fenway Park, where he’s batting .329 with two triples, 19 doubles, four homers and 19 RBIs this year.

Overall, this might not look like a great situation for Verdugo, but that’s why you’re getting plus-money odds on him. You’re not going to get that against righties very often, and I think he’s worth backing.

Bet: Verdugo Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)

Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers (-215, 8.5)

It’s never easy to bet on a pitcher’s walk total, but sometimes you just have to. Tonight, it feels like one of those situations. Johan Oviedo is coming off a three-walk game against the Milwaukee Brewers and the 25-year-old has had seven starts this season in which he has walked at least three batters. Now, Oviedo is pitching against a team that can really draw walks, too.

This season, Los Angeles has the second-highest walk rate in the league against right-handed pitching. So, this team is well equipped to make Oviedo uncomfortable out there. This also happens to be Oviedo’s first start at iconic Dodger Stadium. I’d expect nerves and adrenaline to make him wilder than usual, which is just another reason to really like this play at plus-money odds.

Bet: Oviedo Over 2.5 Walks (+115)
