MLB Player Props for Wednesday, April 10th
The 2024 MLB season is finally here. After another wild offseason and an exciting couple of weeks of Spring Training, we’re ready for some games that matter. This season, VSiN Managing Editor Adam Burke will have you covered when it comes to MLB sides and totals in his daily best bets column. You’ll also get some First Five Inning analysis from Jonathan Von Tobel. On top of that, our analytics guru Steve Makinen will feed you some interesting trends and systems on a daily basis. But I’ll be focusing specifically on MLB player props this season, dishing out at least three per day every Monday to Friday. With that in mind, let’s get into the plays for Wednesday, April 10th.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies – 3:10 pm ET
This game has a total of 11 this afternoon, so I naturally wanted to find an MLB player prop here. Well, I’m playing Eugenio Suarez to have a big day at the plate. Suarez has had a lot of success against Austin Gomber in his career, as he’s 3 for 9 with two homers and four RBIs against him. One of those homers came when these teams met in Arizona earlier in the season. So, even though it’s a relatively small sample size, it’s clear that Suarez likes something about this matchup. That said, I like Suarez to take advantage of it again, especially with this game taking place in Coors Field. Suarez is generally just a very dangerous hitter against lefties. So, I like him at plus-money odds to hit one that doesn’t have special stuff.
Pick: Suarez Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105)
Washington Nationals at San Francisco Giants – 3:45 pm ET
Last season, San Francisco had the third-highest strikeout rate against lefties in baseball (25.3%). This season, only three teams have struck out at a lower rate against southpaws. However, the Giants haven’t had many at-bats against left-handed pitching. And a drop from 25.3% to 16.7% simply isn’t realistic. So, I’m expecting San Francisco to have some issues making contact against lefties moving forward. And that’s why I’m going Over with Patrick Corbin’s strikeout total with today’s MLB player props. I know Corbin has been a punching bag over the last couple of years, but he just had six strikeouts in a start against the Philadelphia Phillies. He’s still capable of missing some bats, even if he does give up quite a bit of runs. And the beauty of a play on Corbin is that he’s already stretched out. He threw 93 pitches in his last start, so he likely won’t be yanked early if he’s not getting lit up.
Pick: Corbin Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+130)
Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres – 6:40 pm ET
Kyle Hendricks has been miserable to start the season, giving up 10 earned runs over 7.2 innings. But the righty is coming off a four-strikeout performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers. And even though he’s a pitcher that prefers to pitch to contact, I do think his strikeout total is a little too low tonight. Hendricks actually struck out four batters in 6.0 innings in his last start against San Diego last year. And you have to go back to July of 2018 to find a start in which Hendricks had fewer than four strikeouts against the Padres. That said, I think it’s worth taking a small shot on Hendricks to have four strikeouts at these odds.
Pick: Hendricks Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+140 – 0.5 units)
Added Plays
Erick Fedde Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (-140) vs. Guardians
Rafael Devers 1+ RBis (+140 – 0.5 units) vs. Orioles
MJ Melendez Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-120 – 1.5 units) vs. Astros
