Best Bets on Today’s 15-Game MLB Schedule
We’re entering the final stretch of the 2023 MLB season and VSiN continues to have you covered with every way you can possibly bet on a baseball game. Normally, Adam Burke will have daily best bets to give you some ideas of what to back when it comes to moneylines, run lines and totals, while I focus on feeding you all player props. However, Adam is dealing with something today, so I’m tackling everything before we get back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow. Keep reading to find out how I’m betting three of the games on the MLB schedule for Sunday, September 3rd.

Here are our favorite MLB best bets and prop bets for Sunday, September 3rd:
Miami Marlins (-166, 8.5) at Washington Nationals
It’s becoming pretty common for aces to have outs recorded totals of 18.5 these days, as teams are more cautious than ever with their starters. But Sandy Alcantara’s total sits at 20.5 tonight, which is oddly high. I believe the oddsmakers are trying to get people to take the Under, but I’m not falling for it. I’m playing the Over and looking for him to pitch at least 7.0 innings in this one, which is something the righty has done in three of his last seven starts. Alcantara also happens to be going up against a Nationals offense that has the fifth-lowest wRC+ against right-handed pitching. So, this is an unbelievable matchup for the righty, who can easily turn in a gem this evening.
Bet: Alcantara Over 20.5 Outs Recorded (+100)
Detroit Tigers (-148, 9) at Chicago White Sox
For as mediocre as Detroit has been this season, the Tigers are 27-15 against division opponents on the year. They also come into this one on a three-game winning streak, and their offense is coming off a 10-run performance against Mike Clevinger on Saturday. That said, Detroit is running hot and I love this team to go out and get a win against Michael Kopech today. Kopech has allowed at least four earned runs in five of his last nine outings, so he has been spotting teams early leads regularly. If he does that against the Tigers, the White Sox will be in trouble. Detroit has lefty Tarik Skubal out there today, and the 26-year-old should be able to keep the White Sox in check. Chicago is just 20th in baseball in wRC+ against lefties.
Bet: Tigers ML (-148)
Minnesota Twins at Texas Rangers (-142, 8.5)
Over the last two seasons, the Over is 12-2 when Texas is batting .225 or worse over a five-game span. The Rangers don’t let cold spells fester and the average total runs scored in those games was 11.6 runs per game. The Over is also 18-8 in the Rangers’ meetings with AL Central opponents this year. With that in mind, I’m expecting a high-scoring game between them and the Twins today. These are two offenses that can really got hot, with the Rangers being fourth in the league in wRC+ and the Twins being tied for 11th in that category. When you combine that with the fact that neither one of today’s starters, Kenta Maeda or Jon Gray, are unbeatable, it’s hard not to expect at least nine runs here.
Bet: Over 8.5 (-120)
