MLB Best Bets Today June 19th

Greetings folks! Our usual baseball maestro Adam Burke is on vacation for a while, so while he is away I’ll be taking over daily MLB best bets.

Despite Adam’s absence, the usual schedule of articles will remain. I’ll have daily best bets Monday-Saturday and I’ll write up the standalone preview for Sunday Night Baseball on Sundays.

Feel free to use my opinions and thoughts, as well as our suite of MLB Betting Tools, including the DraftKings and Circa Betting SplitsSteve Makinen’s Daily RatingsGreg Peterson’s Daily Lines, the First 5 Innings Analyzer, and Umpire Stats.

Here are the MLB Best Bets today for June 19th:

Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees (-241, 8.5)

1:10 p.m. ET

If not now, when?

New York’s offensive slump continued last night against Los Angeles in a 3-2 loss that handed the Angels the series. The Yankees went 3-for-29 with 10 strikeouts on Wednesday. They are 15-of-99 (.152) in the set and are hitting just .156 over the last seven games. But, Tyler Anderson might just be the answer to the Bronx Bombers’ prayers.

Anderson is in abysmal form. He’s allowed 14 earned runs over his last three starts. Two of those starts were on the road against AL East foes (Baltimore & Boston). He allowed 11 of his 14 earned runs in those outings. On the road this season he owns a 6.31 ERA and a 6.01 FIP. Even worse, he is left-handed.

New York has obliterated left-handed pitching this season. The Yankees are second in wOBA, wRC+ and home runs against southpaws. They are third in ISO against them. So I ask again: If not now, when? Weather should be clear – rain is in the forecast for later in the evening, well after the game – and they get a struggling left-hander who has issues on the road. To be fair, the team is also having some horrendous luck, as they are hitting .206 on balls in play over this drought. The ingredients are there for a bounce back tonight.

Pick: Yankees TT OV 5.5 (-140)
