Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray owns a 3.36 ERA with a 2.96 fielding independent, along with 9.6 strikeouts and one home run allowed per nine innings. Pirates starter Mitch Keller has a 3.90 ERA with just seven strikeouts per nine innings and is backed by an offense that ranks second-worst in the National League in run production at just 3.5 runs per game.

Mets rookie Blade Tidwell has allowed 12 runs in 10 1/3 innings over three appearances and was initially expected to start Game Two.
