6:40 PM Eastern

Miami Marlins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Marlins pitcher Eury Pérez makes his first start since 2023 after missing all of 2024 due to major surgery. He posted a 3.15 ERA with 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings in the majors and a 1.99 ERA with 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings across eight minor league rehab starts. Pirates starting pitcher Mike Burrows has a 5.27 ERA through three MLB starts but gets to face a Marlins lineup that ranks 20th in scoring with 4.1 runs per game. However, the Pirates’ 3.2 runs per game at home is last in the National League.

Picks: Marlins Moneyline +112 and Under 8.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicap: Marlins -128 and Total 7.6)

6:45 PM Eastern

Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies

While Phillies starter Zack Wheeler has been dominant with a 2.92 ERA this season, his last outing was on May 29, when he gave up six runs to the Atlanta Braves. He had a turn in the rotation skipped while on paternity leave. Cubs starter Matthew Boyd owns a 3.01 ERA with 9.2 strikeouts and one home run allowed per nine innings, which rises to a 3.49 ERA on the road. Boyd’s strikeout-to-walk ratio of 16 at home falls to 2.71 away from home.

Pick: Over 7.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 8.6)

7:10 PM Eastern

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox

Red Sox starter Brayan Bello has a 3.91 ERA but is due for regression, posting a 4.81 fielding independent with 6.5 strikeouts and 4.7 walks per nine innings. He is backed by a Red Sox offense that averages 5.2 runs per game at home, second in the league. Rays starter Shane Baz has allowed at least three runs in six of his past seven starts and carries a 4.96 ERA with a 5.01 fielding independent, allowing 1.8 home runs and 3.2 walks per nine innings.

Picks: Red Sox Moneyline -108 and Over 9 Runs (Greg’s Handicap: Red Sox -116 and Total 9.7)

7:45 PM Eastern

Toronto Blue Jays vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Blue Jays starter José Berríos owns a 3.67 ERA with 1.3 home runs and 3.6 walks allowed per nine innings this season, but he’s long had road woes. For his career, Berríos has a 3.56 ERA with less than one home run allowed and 9.1 strikeouts per nine innings at home, compared to a 4.56 ERA with nearly 1.5 home runs allowed and 8.1 strikeouts per nine on the road. Cardinals starter Andre Pallante owns a 4.91 ERA with 1.5 home runs allowed per nine innings but faces a Blue Jays lineup that ranks 26th in road scoring at just 3.2 runs per game.

Pick: Cardinals Moneyline +100 (Greg’s Handicap: Cardinals -136)

9:40 PM Eastern

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres

Padres starter Nick Pivetta has been excellent at home, posting a 1.69 ERA with just two home runs allowed in 37 1/3 innings, compared to a 4.94 ERA with five home runs allowed in 31 innings on the road. Dodgers starter Dustin May owns a 4.09 ERA with 1.2 home runs and 3.2 walks per nine innings, but those numbers inflate to a 5.40 ERA and 1.6 home runs allowed per nine innings on the road. The Dodgers also have the weaker bullpen, ranking 18th with a 3.95 ERA, while the Padres bullpen ranks third with a 3.03 ERA.

Pick: Padres Moneyline +104 (Greg’s Handicap: Padres -114)
