1:15 PM Eastern
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Cardinals starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore has been a revelation with a 2.92 ERA and a 2.29 fielding independent, allowing just 0.3 home runs and 1.4 walks per nine innings. Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly has a 3.26 ERA overall, but shows a stark home-road split, posting a 2.35 ERA at home versus 4.28 on the road.
Pick: Cardinals Moneyline -110 (Greg’s Handicap: Cardinals -132)
4:05 PM Eastern
San Francisco Giants vs. Washington Nationals
Giants pitcher Kyle Harrison is making his first start of the season after four relief appearances, posting a 3.38 ERA across 5 1/3 innings. Last season, he had a 4.56 ERA as a full-time starter. Nationals starter Jake Irvin owns a 3.88 ERA but a 4.90 fielding independent, and he’s backed by a bullpen with a 6.22 ERA — the worst in the National League.
Pick: Over 8.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicapped Total: 9.1)
4:10 PM Eastern
Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds
Reds starter Andrew Abbott enters Saturday with a 1.80 ERA, having allowed just one earned run across his last four starts. Cubs starter Colin Rea has a 2.38 ERA, but his 3.58 fielding independent and 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings suggest regression. Rea is backed by a bullpen ranked 19th in ERA at 4.23, while the Reds bullpen ranks sixth at 3.30.
Pick: Reds Moneyline +110 (Greg’s Handicap: Reds -104)
7:05 PM Eastern
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Rays starter Shane Baz has allowed at least three runs in each of his last four starts, ballooning his ERA to 5.33. He faces a Blue Jays lineup that ranks third in road run creation with 3.6 runs per game. The Rays, meanwhile, rank 24th in home scoring at 3.9 runs per game and will face Blue Jays starter Jose BerrÃos, who has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts.
Picks: Rays Moneyline -116 and Under 9.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicap: Rays Moneyline -136, Total 8.4)
7:15 PM Eastern
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets
Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin has a 4.05 ERA and a 4.69 fielding independent, allowing 1.8 home runs and 4.1 walks per nine innings. Mets starter David Peterson owns a 2.86 ERA with just 0.7 home runs per nine allowed and is backed by a bullpen ranked third in ERA at 2.91. The Dodgers bullpen ranks 17th with a 4.00 ERA.
