Monday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Monday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Jameson Taillon Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-125) vs. Rays
Cubs at Rays – 4:10 pm ET
Taillon only had three strikeouts in his first start of the year, but four seems like a reasonable ask against the Rays. Tampa Bay had the ninth-highest strikeout rate (23.1%) in baseball last year, and I’m not yet buying the team’s 18.8% strikeout rate (second-best in MLB) this year. That said, with Taillon having thrown 85 pitches in his first outing of 2026, I’ll take a shot with him getting to this lineup over five or so innings. Last year, Taillon had at least four strikeouts in seven of his 13 road starts. He also had at least four strikeouts in 10 of the 15 games he pitches with a total of 8.0 or lower. Well, the total for tonight’s game is 7.5, so this is expected to be a bit of a duel between the two starters.
Kerry Carpenter Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+125) vs. Twins
Tigers at Twins – 7:40 pm ET
Joe Ryan will be on the bump for the Twins tonight, so the Tigers will be going to work against a very good starter. However, I still like Carpenter to show up with a decent day at the plate. Carpenter is coming off a three-game series against the Cardinals in which he had at least two HRR in all three contests. Carpenter was also strong when playing in road games against the Twins last year, finishing with two or more HRR in six of the seven games he played in Minnesota. Carpenter also enjoys the matchup with Ryan, as he is 4 for 8 with a double, a homer, and five RBIs against the righty. That said, at plus-money odds, I’ll take my chances with Carpenter finishing with another two or more combined hits, runs, and RBIs.
Mickey Moniak Over 1.5 Total Bases (+112) vs. Astros
Astros at Rockies – 8:40 pm ET
Moniak is coming off a massive game against the Phillies, hitting two solo homers in a 4-1 victory. Now, the 27-year-old will face another right-handed pitcher in Coors Field, making this a strong matchup for him. Last year, Moniak batted .276 with eight triples, 18 doubles, and 23 homers against righties, and he also batted .303 with five triples, 14 doubles, and 15 homers in Colorado. He’s just extremely dangerous when looking at exactly this type of game, and I feel good about grabbing him to finish with at least two total bases at +112 odds.
