Sunday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Sunday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. On Saturdays and Sundays, I’m going to keep these much shorter to cut down on my workload a little.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145) vs. Royals

Royals at Braves – 1:35 pm ET

More often than not, I’m going to be looking for plus-money odds on my player props this season. However, I can’t turn down Acuna to have 2+ hits, runs, and RBIs today. Acuna is 6 for 14 with four RBIs against Seth Lugo in his career. That said, batting leadoff in a game in a hitter-friendly ballpark, I expect Acuna to perform.

Nick Kurtz Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105) vs. Blue Jays

Athletics at Blue Jays – 1:37 pm ET

Kurtz scored three runs against the Blue Jays yesterday, but he did that without actually coming through with any hits. Well, I see Kurtz getting going as a hitter soon, as I like the raw power he brings to the Athletics lineup. Of course, today’s matchup isn’t a great one for Kurtz, as he struggles against lefties and Eric Lauer will be on the bump. But I’m still trusting Kurtz to come through with something — or get to the Toronto bullpen. The price is too good to pass up.

Jarren Duran Over 1.5 Total Bases (+124) vs. Reds

Red Sox at Reds – 1:40 pm ET

Duran is one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball, and he’s at his best against right-handed pitching. That bodes well for him as he goes up against 24-year-old righty Rhett Lowder in a hitter-friendly park. Last year, Duran averaged 1.7 total bases per game when going up against righty starters, so I’m willing to bank on the averages in a plus matchup.

Dustin May Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+106) vs. Rays

Rays at Cardinals – 2:15 pm ET

In May’s final Spring Training start, he fanned three hitters in 5.0 innings. He also threw 81 pitches in that outing. If May can work his way up to 85 or so this afternoon, I like his chances of whiffing at least five batters. Last year, Tampa Bay had a 22.5% strikeout rate against righties, so this is a good lineup for May’s swing-and-miss stuff.
