Sunday Night Baseball: Giants vs. Dodgers
The rubber match of this series between the Dodgers and Giants carries some weight. San Francisco is one of the hottest teams in baseball. It’s 9-4 record in June has pushed the team to within one game of Los Angeles in the NL West. There’s still plenty of baseball to played in the regular season, but a series win would go a long way for the Giants.

Giants vs. Dodgers Game Preview
Kyle Harrison will get the ball for San Francisco tonight. The left-hander sports a 4.56 ERA and 4.30 FIP in eight appearances this season. His last four appearances have all been starts, and in those outings he has a 4.91 ERA and 4.22 FIP. Three of the four starts have come on the road, so pitching in hostile environments is familiar for the Giants’ starter.
Harrison’s biggest issues are contact and command. He ranks in the 19th percentile of pitchers in barrel rate allowed (10.6%) and the 7th percentile in hard-hit rate (48.5%). Harrison has also walked 9% of the batters he has faced to this point. That doesn’t bode well tonight against one of the better lineups against left-handed pitching.
Los Angeles ranks fourth in wOBA (.340) and against lefties this season. They have hit the most home runs against southpaws (31) and own the eighth-lowest strikeout rate against them (21.1%). It wouldn’t be a shock to see the Dodgers tee-off like they did last night against Landon Roupp and the rest of the Giants’ pitching staff.
Dustin May will oppose Harrison. May is looking to snap back after he allowed 5 earned runs over five innings of work at San Diego in his last start. The former third-round pick has been subpar most of the season, but he has pitched well at home.
In 33.1 innings in Los Angeles May has a 2.97 ERA and a 3.37 FIP. He also faces a very average offensive lineup tonight. San Francisco is 21st in wOBA (.302) away from home. It has the fourth-highest strikeout rate on the road (25.0%) and the fourth-lowest batting average (.224). May isn’t in the best form, but the Giants’ anemic lineup and his ability to pitch well at home could raise his floor tonight.

Giants vs. Dodgers Player Props
Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-135)
As previously mentioned, the Dodgers annihilate left-handed pitching and Shohei Ohtani is a big reason why. Ohtani is hitting .309/.337/.557 against lefties this season. He’s only faced Harrison three times in his career, so there isn’t any history to rely on. There is only Ohtani’s greatness to lean on, and that is good enough for me here.
