8 p.m. ET: American League vs National League (-115, 7)

Tonight’s All-Star Game will be played at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.

The American League will start Tigers lefty Tarik Skubal (10-3, 2.23 ERA) while the National League goes with Pirates righty Paul Skenes (4-8, 2.01 ERA).

This line opened at roughly a -110 pick’em on both sides, with some books opening the National League a slight -115 home favorite and the American League a -105 road dog.

The public sees two evenly matched teams and doesn’t know who to back. However, despite this split ticket count at DraftKings, we’ve seen several shops jump a few cents in favor of the home team, pushing the National League up to -115 and even toward -120 across the market.

At DraftKings, the National League is taking in 50% of moneyline bets and 59% of moneyline dollars, a sneaky “low bets, higher dollars” sharp split indicating an undecided public but also respected wiseguy money in favor of the home chalk.

In terms of the total, it opened at 7 and has remained relatively stagnant. The over is being juiced up 7 over -115 or -120. The public thinks the total is way too low and 78% of bets and 77% of dollars at taking the over.

However, despite this overwhelming support for the over, oddsmakers seem reluctant to raise the total up from 7 to 7.5. In fact, any time a book has briefly jumped up to 7.5, we’ve seen a wave of sharp under money grab the hook and drop the total back down to 7. The under is offering notable contrarian value, especially for savvy bettors who can shop around and hunt for an under 7.5, as the under is only taking in 22% of tickets in a heavily bet, nationally televised primetime game.

Tonight’s forecast calls for mid 80s with 5 MPH winds blowing in from left center.

The American League is 9-1 over the last 10 All-Star Games, winning last year’s Midsummer Classic 5-3. Here are the last ten final scores: 5-3, 3-2, 3-2, 5-2, 4-3, 8-6, 2-1, 4-2, 6-3, 5-3. The average combined total over the past decade is 7.2.
