NBA Best Bets Today – October 29

San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers – 9:00 pm ET

The Spurs have looked better than expected to start the season, and rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama has already turned some heads. However, this is going to be San Antonio’s first road game of the year. Things won’t be quite as easy for this young team away from home, where the Spurs happen to have one of the best crowds in basketball. San Antonio is also facing a Los Angeles team that is second in the league in offensive rating through two games. That will put a lot of stress on a Spurs defense that is just 20th in the NBA in defensive rating. And overall, I just don’t think San Antonio has an answer for the wing duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Meanwhile, the Clippers will likely be very physical with Wembanyama. It’ll be interesting to see how that looks. But I do think this ends up being something of a blowout.

Bet: Clippers -9 (-108 – Play to -9.5)

Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento Kings – 9:00 pm ET

The Kings are coming off an eight-point loss to the Golden State Warriors, but I’d be surprised if they don’t get back on track against the Lakers here. The reality is that Los Angeles just doesn’t have the halfcourt offense required to consistently beat good teams. The Lakers are down at 23rd in the league in offensive rating to start the year, And while they are good defensively, I don’t see how they’ll keep up with De’Aaron Fox and a Kings team that is up at fifth in the league in offensive rating. Of course, Sacramento isn’t exactly great defensively, but the team should be aided by Los Angeles’ inability to shoot the 3-ball. Also, the Kings are 15-4 against the spread when coming off a home loss under head coach Mike Brown. And they won those games by an average of 9.1 points per game.

Bet: Kings -2.5 (-110 – Play to -3)

NBA Player Props Today – October 29

Denver Nuggets at Oklahoma City Thunder – 3:30 pm ET

Chet Holmgren had 16 points in Oklahoma City’s win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last game. The big man doesn’t take a lot of shots, but he is 5 for 7 from deep through two games. That’s obviously not sustainable, but he is getting great looks at the basket and making defenses pay. Now, Holmgren faces a Nuggets team that will mostly put Michael Porter Jr. and Nikola Jokic on him. That said, I think the rookie could be in for a good offensive performance. He should get a couple of clean looks from behind the 3-point line here, but he’s also capable of getting himself to the rim with either one of those guys on him. This game has a very high total and I think he’ll be one of the main beneficiaries of a high-scoring matchup.

Bet: Holmgren Over 11.5 Points (-109)

Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets – 7:00 pm ET

In Golden State’s first game of the season, the team let Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker go for 32 points on 61.9% shooting from the field. The Warriors then followed it up by letting Fox score 39 points in their win over the Kings. It just feels like that could be life for this Golden State team, which added Chris Paul to its guard rotation this year. This Warriors team does not have many competent perimeter defenders. Fortunately for them, Draymond Green is back to clean up the mess a bit. But I still think this is a good spot to back Jalen Green to go Over his point total. He had 22 points in Friday’s loss to the Spurs, but it still doesn’t feel like he has really gotten himself going yet. With this being the home opener, I expect a big performance.

Bet: Green Over 21.5 Points (-109)
