NBA Best Bets Today – Friday, January 23
Suns ML (-137 – 1.5 units) vs. Hawks
Suns at Hawks – 7:30 pm ET
I took the Suns at -137 last night. That was available on the VSiN Pro Picks page, which is just one of the many reasons you should become a subscriber. The best price I see on Phoenix now is -145, which isn’t exactly at a widely available sportsbook. But I would still be looking to play the Suns on the moneyline here, or I’d look to parlay Phoenix with something else. I genuinely love this spot for the Suns.
Phoenix hasn’t won a game in Atlanta since 2014, when Jordan Ott was a video coordinator on Mike Budenholzer’s staff, Suns assistant DeMarre Carroll was a member of the Hawks, and Devin Booker was still in high school. That said, this has been a house of horrors for Phoenix. However, the Suns come into this game with two full days of rest, and I’m also not sure the culture in Phoenix has ever been stronger. I think we’ll see a motivated Suns team this evening.
Phoenix is also fully healthy, while Atlanta will be without Kristaps Porzingis and Zaccharie Risacher. That’s pretty big. The Suns are also a better team than the Hawks — and possibly by a wide margin. Since January 1, Phoenix is sixth in the NBA in Efficiency Differential (+6.5), while Atlanta is 20th (-3.4). And while the Hawks strength is their defense (112.7 points allowed per 100 since Jan. 1), the Suns are better there (109.5 points allowed per 100 since Jan. 1). Phoenix is also the better offensive team, and Jalen Green is only going to make the offense better.
