Friday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Friday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.

Isaiah Jackson Over 7.5 Points (+100) vs. Pacers

Clippers at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET

Jackson has scored at least 10 points in five of the last six games. He also had 10 points when he faced the Pacers on March 4. Jackson has done some good work as Los Angeles’ backup center since the trade, and this is a good matchup for him. Indiana is 29th in the NBA defending inside 10 feet, where Jackson scores 99% of his points. The Pacers are also 30th in the NBA defending pick-and-roll rollers, and the team struggles with putbacks. That said, Jackson, who is an athletic ball of energy, should do well with his constant activity around the basket. I also think Jackson will be motivated to play against his former team. Who isn’t?

Sam Merrill Over 12.5 Points (-120) vs. Heat

Heat at Cavaliers – 7:30 pm ET

Jarrett Allen could return to action for the Cavaliers tonight, but that shouldn’t really impact Merrill. The sharpshooter has scored at least 12 points in six consecutive games, and he has also had at least 15 points in three straight and four of the last five. Merrill also went for 18 points against this Heat team the other night, so this is a pretty strong matchup for him. Miami is 21st in the NBA defending non-corner 3s, which make up 62% of Merrill’s scoring for the season. The Heat are also just below-average defending spot-up attempts. This is also a game that should be played at a rapid pace, which benefits a shooter like Merrill. Considering all of that, I see no reason not to go to Merrill’s Over for the third night in a row.

PJ Washington Over 13.5 Points (-115) vs. Trail Blazers

Mavericks at Blazers – 10:00 pm ET

The Mavericks are currently playing without Daniel Gafford, so they’re somewhat limited when looking at the big-man rotation. That means Washington should have a pretty big role this evening, and I like his chances of having at least 14 points. Washington has scored at least 18 points in the last three games he has played without Gafford, and this is a game in which having a stretch big could be huge. Washington’s ability to space the floor can pull Donovan Clingan, one of the league’s best rim protectors, away from the rim. That makes Washington’s shooting a crucial part of this game, and knocking down some shots will also allow him to do better work as a driver. Regardless, Washington already had one game this season in which he poured in 21 points against the Blazers. I think he can do it again.
